Don't be an idiot. If someone offers something for free, a) it doesn't mean they're not making money, and b) it doesn't exempt them from providing good service. Personally, I'd be happy to pay if it would ensure good service! But that's not an option. Instead, no one is providing a worthwhile service in this space. Feedburner was doing it well until Google bought them out. Google has seriously dropped the ball; FB should be integrated with Google Analytics at this point. I'd pay for that in a heartbeat. Argh, I hate comments like yours, Emma. Don’t be an idiot.

If someone offers something for free, a) it doesn’t mean they’re not making money, and b) it doesn’t exempt them from providing good service.

Personally, I’d be happy to pay if it would ensure good service! But that’s not an option. Instead, no one is providing a worthwhile service in this space. Feedburner was doing it well until Google bought them out. Google has seriously dropped the ball; FB should be integrated with Google Analytics at this point. I’d pay for that in a heartbeat.
