Reverend - I often find it incredible that anyone can make propose that a given deceased person would act in a certain way, given the circumstance. To state that Abe Lincoln would cause our current President to sit in his place (and presumably be killed) is not only unfounded (i.e. one cannot state categorically that Abe would indeed insist on such a thing) but indicates that the good Reverend is hypocritical in calling for the assasination of another human being. Certainly one has the right to debate, to quarrel, to discuss matters where we differ, but to push an agenda of hate and destruction sheds a ghastly shadow on those of your party who are less inclined to speak as you do. To proclaim a man who's Christian (Obama is United Church of Christ, so unless you're advocating that that denomination is not Christian, you're out of line) as the AntiChrist is emotionally biased and again bodes ill for your own denomination. Obama even disavowed being part of his old church where the minister got out of line (along the same lines as you!), so I applaud that act.
As for America being founded on Christian values, i agere that our value system is based upon the views of the founding fathers, but to push the agend that America must be, therefore, primarily Christian is, in my view, anti-American and against the Constitution, which espouses that all humans are equal, have religious freedom (not allowing men to belong to those religions which are sanctioned by the Christian right, especially your kind of right).
Finally, it is clearly a whiny plea on your part to cast blame away from the Republican party in terms of the economy. Speaking only of those who speak loudest, and in the most extreme of views from the right, it seems that your frustration over not having held the power reins has now caused you to spin any act by the President as evil, and anything going on wrong now as totally of his doing. I'm surprised when others again present pseudo-facts not in evidence, such as "If McCain were President, such-n-such would not have happened". No one can make that prediction and prove it, so the naysayers of Obama sing it loud because there's no way to disprove their claim. President Bush did some good things, but the people have spoken via their votes and a new person has the reins. Your frustration should be channeled toward positive action, not hateful vitriole. I respect and fight for your right to speak as you choose, but I defend the President's current action and hope that you can acknowledge that

Just a thought - all the water pipes (sewer systems) in the US are over 100 yrs old - how about we start our own new deal and employ the un employed to rebuild them instead of bailing out the CEO's who felt justified destroying our economy. Also since we the middle class are so in debt especially with credit cards - let us write off the interest we pay on them as well as personal and car loans, even student loans. They say Regan was a good president but he did away with the right offs - Regan nomics was the beginn ning of the end.

It is so sad there are so many HATERS in this world. And then maybe they are not haters, maybe they are just some more of what is wrong with this world today. IF IT IS NOT ABOUT ME AND MY KIND, it for real will not work. Let's not give it a chance, no matter that some slow progress has been notice, lets join the band of the naysayers.
Instead of a nation coming togethere and praying that it will get better for all, they attempt to knock down every plan, when if someone asked them for the solution, they would not have a clue, as they havent a clue aobut anything anyway.

President Obama,
Last year my husband was medically discharged from the US Army due to injuries received in Iraq. Upon his discharge he received a severance pay that was taxed until VA gets done with whatever they have to do. The pay is supposed to be tax-free because the injuries were received in a warzone. VA said it could take up to 18 months to finish their part and for my husband to receive the taxs back. Meanwhile, his annual pay doubled for tax purposes and placed us into a higher tax bracket for this year. We will have to file an admentment once VA has finished their part to get our taxes straight again. What prompted me to write you wasn't the red tape that we have to wade through, but your housing relief package to new home owners. Prior to adding our new home owner tax relief, we owed the US over $7000, however, once the home owner tax credit was applied, we were owned money from the US. This is a thank you note for pushing the tax credit to us. It saved us a lot of grief and now the money we do have can be applied to my husband going to school in order to find another job and the one paycheck that I am receiving will not be stretched thinner in order to pay taxes that we do not owe because the system is so backed up.
On another note, the military does NOT need anymore pay raises. We are doing fine.Healthcare is taken care of for us, dental care is taken care of, life insurance is very inexpensive and our all of those are also inexpensive for our families. Housing is provided or paid for, same with food. We get a clothing allowance annually. If all of these benefits were added up, plus our monthly salary, we are getting paid very well. For those people who argue differently are just selfish.
Keep up the good work and stay in touch with those in which you serve, the people of the United States. The world is watching, be strong.

What prompted me to write you wasn’t the red tape that we have to wade through, but your housing relief package to new home owners.

Some may remember that other republican mental giant, Spiro Agnew, who called his critics "Nattering Nabobs of Negativity." Perhaps the republicans, sorta like Pogo, have met the enemy and they are Rush! Welcome to the real world boys. Rush can't be all wrong can he?

The President said he wants money to give healthcare to the uninsured. In reality, we presently have Universal Healthcare. It's called Emergency Room Treatment and it's very expensive. Actually, the President wants to cut the cost of our present expensive Universal Healthcare so people can go to doctor offices and clinics which may include preventive treatment as well. It's a win/win.

Instead of saying we should spend money to give the uninsured healthcare, in reality, we now have very expensive Universal Healthcare called Emergency Room Treatment. The President wants to cut the cost of our present "Universal Healthcare" and allow people to go to doctors offices and clinics, and even get some preventive treatment too. It's a win/win.
