Awesome...I got a 69.

My company has been toying with a slightly different kind of Facebook grading system. The purpose of the app is to determine how well your friends know you....we just pulled the wraps off the 'Friend Grade' today:

Would love to hear your feedback.

Kind of interesting. The subtext for the twitter service is that each microblogger has their own reach, while the facebook service measures a user's social graph's conversational reach. These folks surely need to merge their ranking services to get the real reach of a twitter post that becomes a facebook status.

This isn't just for bragging rights of course. Do they want to market to the high-scoring people? Are they empowering me to put a monetary value on my personal reach? Where's this all going?

Maybe Mr. Arrington feels the way he does because he can't see a strong connection between your FB Grader score and FB campaign ROI.

FB Grader is the type of tool that shouldn't be used or judged in a vacuum. It's meant to be used as part of a suite of tools in an holistic campaign. One example of this is to quickly see if changes in one part of your marketing program affect your FB presence.

A tiny piece of information, yes, but since this tool is available within the Hubspot suite, checking your FB score and tracking it over time is very fast and easy to do.

Ease of use is not the only issue, however. I have found that in the world of web analytics variety is key. being creative with a large variety of web marketing tools - including FB grader - is what makes a good marketer good.

If Mr. Arrington can't think of a useful way to use FB Grader, then so be it. But that won't stop me from adding it to my marketing toolbox.

their is currently an obsessions with metrics and measuring things. Not a big fan of this or twitter grader however I take my hat off to the website grader as that has some use.

I wonder if perhaps a tool could be developed that measures "real world" relationships, low self esteem etc. now how could would that be be eh?

Imagine the conversation. "sorry darling, we'll have to file for a divorce, our relationship is currently ranked at 36 out of 100, much less than all our friends and people we have never met"

Hi guys. I'm the developer of Facebook Grader (with the wisdom of Dharmesh backing me).

Although it's sad to hear the tool described as "beyond useless" I can assure you that we have some very cool things planned to make Facebook Grader exciting.

Thanks for the coverage and keep coming back to update your grade, you'll see lots of new features over the next weeks.

How about deleting 4999 of them, and having a whopper every day for the next 15 months ? Yuck.

I have a score of 100 and am ranked number 4:

http://facebook.grader.com/elite

So you would think I'd like the site. WRONG...

It sucks. Their algorithm is complete BS. It's hard to find my twitter account @pop17 on twitter.grader.com and their NYC elite have fewer followers than me combined.

I quit checking twitter grader a while back when i realized a neophyte twitter user could beat your 90 score by just following the maximum 0f 2000. a few of them will auto-follow back, and he will have a 95 or score in one day without ever doing an tweet.
