[...] I know there are a few Twitter fans out there who don’t see the need for a client on their BlackBerry. I just found this cool solution on TechCrunch that uses the TwitApps service to send you an email with your twits. The best part is that you do not have to give them your username and password to use the service. This should be pretty useful since TwitterBerry seems to be pretty popular according to recent stats.
[...] TechCrunch has posted an interesting (if cursory) investigation of the ways in which the Twitter community gets their Tweet on. Getting their metrics from Twitstat, TechCrunch shows that not only does popular BlackBerry Twitter client TwitterBerry crack the top ten, but TwitterBerry users are going Twitter crazy, with an average of 3.68 tweets per user. Currently, TwitterBerry is beating out desktop clients TweetDeck (a personal favorite) and FriendFeed. [...]

Yeah, this is a pretty worthless stat. I don't know how many clients there are for the iPhone or Blackberry, but I know I've been known to use two or three different apps a day on my iPhone. Then there is #4, twitterific, which is both a Desktop and iPhone client. How are they differentiating iPhone use from Mac use there?
If the sampling size was big enough, maybe it'd tell you something about a most popular client, but I have a hard time ever seeing it tell you about the most popular twitter device.

If you want the full story on this, I've actually been maintaining stats on _all_ activity over on http://tweetstats.com/twitter_stats

Twitterfeed is by far the most popular "client", while TweetDeck is usually the most popular desktop client. Twitteriffic seems to rise during the weekends as people to mobile.

It currently only show daily stats, but I'm planning in adding trends so we can see the rise ofbnew twitter clients.

These results are odd because I've noticed, amongst the people I follow anyway, that the vast majority are using the iPhone. Could it be that there are more Twitter clients for the iPhone than the BB, thereby skewing the numbers? It's kind of a silly thing to care about, IMO, but I'm always suspicious of "stats" that run so completely counter to my personal experience. It wouldn't change the fact of that particular client's popularity obviously, but I think that extending that statement to say BB users are Twittering more than iPhone users is unjustified and probably outright wrong.

These results are odd because I’ve noticed, amongst the people I follow anyway, that the vast majority are using the iPhone. Could it be that there are more Twitter clients for the iPhone than the BB, thereby skewing the numbers? It’s kind of a silly thing to care about, IMO, but I’m always suspicious of “stats” that run so completely counter to my personal experience.
I travel between Dublin and Galway a few times a week. I started using the train. Prior to this I had little time or use for twitter. Now it is for me a killer app (kills time anyway!) and I use it outside of the train. One app I use and didn't see mentioned here if "friend or follower".
The actual url is http://www.aralbalkan.com/fof/
It can be used to manage twitter friend and followers.
