I got a Kindle a couple of months ago, it was best purchasing decisions I ever made.

It's too bad they are sold out till February, I know a lot of people who are frustrated they couldn't get one in time for Christmas.

I don't think its a question of quantity over quality here, in the long run, they will sell more if their product is better than the competition... numbers are too short term a measure to quantify.

I've had a Kindle for several months now and love it. The selection especially of best sellers is awesome, but heck, you can even get medical textbooks! You can still write in the margins with the note feature, and highlight passages, then you can export those notes quite easily. The WhisperNet isn't available in all areas, but downloading a book is easy, and the price for a bestseller can't be beat. Highly recommended.

I said newspapers would not be replaced by the web. Loved scanning an acre of print at a time, didn't think of RSS, or the value of digging deeper through web search. Now I get my news online, rarely pick up a paper (and miss lots of key little stories for my preference). I was wrong.

Still holding out for books, though. The physical space helps me experience and remember - I can remember what side of a page, and where on the page, are certain key passages. I can write in the margins.

But I'd love to have 30 books in the space of a paperback. More room in the luggage for wax and fins, for whiskey, for couple more spare clips.

Might be a convert. But I'll miss something, perhaps something critical.

Since the Kindle was presented on Oprah a few months back it's popularity has grown dramatically. In my opinion i don't really think that the Kindle is a necessary investment when most people can read stories, books, and much more on their laptop or Iphone.

However I'm sure that the new Kindle set to hit the market may increase the popularity of the device.
Merry Christmas,
