CBS just pushed a completely new look and feel for its TV.com site. Think they have Hulu on their mind? you be the judge.
The overall look of the home page is very similar to Hulu, although the actual show pages remain different. Frankly, I think they should have gone all the way and copied Hulu completely.

it has hints of hulu but its not a knockoff. still its not about the looks, its about the content, and i dot know if they have enough of it or have any unique thing that hulu, joost and the rest don’t have.
I clicked to watch “House” and tv.com actually gave me the Hulu player…
Yes, it looks like for videos like NBC vids, they actually have Hulu Embeds.
I like TV.com better.
One thing you failed to mention is that TV.com is actually a syndication partner with Hulu – meaning they have Hulu content, plus CBS content.
One area that most of these media portals miss: personalization. This is where Mefeedia.com excels – being able to aggregate video – no matter where it is hosted: TV content, YouTube content, Vimeo, Podcasts, and other video is something users want… i.e. “All My Media”, not just what is pushed out by the studios.
Syndication partner?? You mean embed a video? -1 points for you sir, but +1 for mentioning mefeedia.com, never heard of that before.
I for comment very good http://www.jugargame.com/
It seems TV.com is a portal and less like a Hulu.com competitor (or ripoff). Part of the problem is, when you land on the TV.com home page, it’s unclear on what you should do (plague of the portal).
The components are similar to Hulu, but because TV.com has many additional avenues (like Photos, News…etc)
TV.com does not let you decide which content you would like to watch. The way the content is presented, it basically decides for you.
Hard to navigate. Hulu.com is very easy to navigate, especially if I would like to watch TV Shows versus watching Movies.
Looking at the TV.com, I have no idea where TV Shows or Movies are located. When I finally find TV Shows, it’s a Hulu.com embedded player, which is strange if this is being presented as a competitor.
Great looking re-design, IMO. However, they’re still playing catch-up….
Could this little domain be one of the primary reasons why CBS paid $1.8 billion for entire cNet?
I think so.
As TV transitions online, TV.com will have more value than individual network names.
I spend more time watching shows on my computer screen than I do on my TV in the living room.
“Check it out on Hulu” “WTF is Hulu?!”
“Check it out on TV.com” “OK!”
Yeah, and no one would ever search or get news from anywhere else but search.com or news.com
(but don’t tell google or yahoo!)
Go to go… I’m going to books.com to get my books!
Good thing CNET also sold Search.com and News.com to CBS!
I do wonder what they will try and build with com.com
“for it’s TV.com site”
ITS! It is spelled ITS!
Hey Michael, write English much?
you’re hilarious.
hahahah
Hey David, troll much. Why do some people insist on being a total schmuck online. Your comment had nothing whatsoever to do with the subject at hand. If you don’t like the occasional typo that comes with writing a blog, get your news from Yahoo.
Now on to more important things, TV.com is supposedly going to start attacking Hulu head on so I suppose this is the first salvo. Long ways to go IMHO but you definitely can’t beat the domain name per a previous comment.
Still can’t watch videos here in Canada. Same s*&t different pile.

Have used both sites in the past and prefer TV.com for their community. Also like Fanpop.com too. The new look is a good step for TV.com to step into 2009.
So now all clean designs on a TV site copy Hulu?
The design points on both sites are pretty standard. The only consistencies are the top bar, the the columns, and a clean background. You’ll find those on lots of sites.
There are a whole bunch of differences ignored in this 60-word post.
This re-design just seems pointless (not to mention ugly) since CNET had just re-designed TV.com themselves, not more than a month ago.
IMO, this is one of the best sites to come out of CNET in a while.
can they please get a new logo?
Good name etc, but still like sites like fanpop.com,yidio.com,sidereel.com that have everything way easier to find.
you think thats bad, you should check out the rip by comcast of hulu…they tried to brand it to make it different but its so badly done. and it tries to make up for it by being a partner I guess..

Oh crap, now I know who the final 3 survivors are! Thanks a lot, guys! (its just the middle of the season in other countries, you know…)
