This is perfect example of racist America. I don’t imaging someone will promote some kind of Whitebird browser anywhere else in the world. Your website targets a population of immigrants, that is not fully integrated into American society. You’re helping them integrate, which is a step forward.

A browser for “Blacks” is different. It promotes the idea of segregation between Blacks and the rest. It’s a technological Apartheid.

I’m black and I think that the concept of a black browser promotes the idea of segregation. I appreciate that you’re trying to help but you’re confusing different things. Like I said in a comment before: A browser for hip hop fans is cool. A browser for African Americans is racist. Hip hop fans are a niche. African Americans are a race. you seem to confuse both.

How about a computer for African Americans? How about a car for African Americans? How about restrooms for African Americans? How about water fountains for African Americans?

We fought segregation and now some black business people want to put us back into it. And it started with that damn BET!

African Americans are NOT a niche. We are a race.
We’re black. But that should NOT define us as individuals.

Anything that is targeted to a specific race is inherently racist.

The idea of a browser for hiphop fans is COOL. The idea of a browser for black people is RACIST.

As an African American, and technology buff…I disagree with this effort to an extent.

On the web, we do have niches for woman, stay-at home moms, etc.

Although African Americans tend to have specific interests and commonality, I believe the longterm union of all people is ensuring that those of other cultures feel a sense of “invite”…this rather counters others…almost putting up a brick wall.

i searched several “black” terms. i.e. negro league baseball stars (cool papa bell and josh gibson), peanuts (for gw carver), and obama, and it i think straight google search results are superior to blackbird black search regardless of what color your skin is.

Lets say for instance that BlackBird doesnt fail and it is a great success. What’s the problem with that? I have a house full of kids that see themselves in their browser now they want to know more about the feed, plugins, and how BlackBird was designed. BlackBird at least opens the door of empowerment just like seeing a black candidate does. It is functional it is not vaporware and MOST of all it is just beginning 40A Inc the company that operates BlackBird has been totally responsive to all the requests for more information and suggestions that i gave them.

I have only been around the web since the beginning of Prodigy, Compuserve, and Steve Case went to Commodore for startup money for AOL. And being the only Technology Talk Show on FM Radio by African Americans in the NYC, I think i have seen plenty of products come and go.

I am proud of this product do i think it is the best it could be no but has it crashed on any of our 3 slow computers like IE? Does has it attracted any spyware? NO and it feels faster than FireFox 3. Right now Chrome and BlackBird are the 2 most stable Browsers we (5) people in this house are using for music, video, social media and email almost 16 hours straight right now the 17 yo boy is chatting via Meebo, Myspace and listening to music on Imeem.com. Basically it works! Thats all i can ask of software on 1st version

Just re-read my comment above and would like to correct it.

“The entire western civilisation is white culture.” should have read:
“The entire western civilisation was built on white culture.”

The internet should be a place for all cultures, scenes, races, nationalities, etc. to voice opinions and ideas.

Making web browsers that cater only to specific ‘cultures’, only showing what the browser vendor wants you to see is the wrong direction. Microsoft had legal actions taken out for trying the exact same thing. It’s just wrong!

No one has or will try to make a specific browser for another race because it is ridiculous.

Good luck finding a Jewish browser for the <6 million Jews in the US (an even smaller minority). Nor will you find an Asian browser. Not gonna happen.
