MobaMingle is by no means the only international mobile-only social networking service that has grown by leaps-and-bounds. MyGamma, which is run by Singapore-based BuzzCity, has 3 million registered users in Asia, Europe, the U.S., and Africa. Like MobaMingle, the service combines features like social networking, games, virtual gifting, and moblogs.

Mobagetown is one of the most successful mobile web services in the world and it's surprising they haven't gotten more attention over here. There are probably some cultural differences between US and Japan but the model with virtual economies and avatars etc is working well on the web so why not mobile?

Two US companies are in the same space, using virtual currencies together with mobile virtual goods, Tapatap and Heysan
