To those assuming that its a bad idea for utorrent to invest in a mac version, I think the company has done pretty good so far & I think they have crunched the numbers to see weather or not it is cost feasible to work on a mac version. To Domain M. its obvious from the numbers u posted that u haven’t, p2p is approaching or past %50 of the internet traffic as of now & is steady on the incline not decline & the mac market is not exactly a penny store either, so to say a company is making a bad decision when you don’t have the data to make an informed prediction is just dumb. I don’t have their books in hand either but I’m betting they have a better idea than me on weather this is a good idea or not =).

Since uTorrent first came out for Windows, there’s been no question it’s the best client. It’s fantastic. I havent owned a Mac since 10.3 was the shit so I dont know where things currently stand but from the comments here it sounds like there’s already a good client available. So I agree – what’s the point in spending resources to release this? I dont know.

Surely Transmission has a polished interface, but it is not really network-friendly. Last time i tried to use it it crashed my wifi network instantly. I switched to Vuze which might not have a pretty interface, but works really well. Moreover you can have a plugin which takes RSS feeds + regexp and automatically download the new stuff.

uTorrent has a big plus over Transmission because of it’s speed and small memory usage. Then again uTorrent is still in beta and has some bugs (my speed cap doesn’t work). Also the famous webUI is not incluided in the beta. It’s a first step and I’m looking forward for the next one!
