very interesting. Many people are interested in getting API access to my site http://www.HearWhere.com, and i was considering partnering with a company that has a sales channel for their api, and experience in the space.
Solo developer, so makes it difficult to do everything myself, but maybe 3Scale is the solution for me.
I’m definately going to look into it further.

Thanks Oren, all – looking forward to the first mashery / 3scale service mashup! We talked to a lot of great companies during the beta phase and loads have APIs on their roadmap so I think 2009 will be a great year for new APIs to play with.

API’s is the way to go, it’s surprising that no other startups are targeting the “infrastructure” part. Kudos for the newcomers!

Mashery are doing great stuff in the space too – but 3scale has a different take – basically trying to make it easy for anyone wanting to manage access to their API to set themselves up.

Basically you can think of it like paypal + google analytics for APIs.

Things are still a bit rough around the edges, but we’re working on it

Ought there not be a mention of Mashery here? They’ve been super successful in doing things quite related to this and I think they blazed the trail afaik. Cool to hear about more entrants into this market, though.
