Sprout, a Flash platform that first launched in January 2008 to let developers easily create Flash widgets and websites, is reaching another milestone today: integration of Google Analytics into Flash to properly track user engagement and participation.
The new product, called Sprout Mixer, is a tool that lets users create customized widgets that incorporate brand and personal content - see here for an example. Those widgets are then put on websites, where other users can interact with them and create their own versions.
…and Google Analytics is integrated into the platform.
Analytics include total number of visitors, how many create a widget and how many publish. Brands can also see the location of users, other demographic information and how many people interact with the widget.
The company has raised $8.3 million over two rounds of financing.

Cheers.
Thanks Joey! Impressive stuff!

Cool. Thanks
Google-Analytics:
It’s collecting TONS of user information that is stored on Google’s servers and endlessly builds personal profiles. And the general public has absolutely NO IDEA about this.
Google knows EVERYTHING about us.
This is privacy madness and has to STOP.
i suspect it will stop when someone comes up with a better analytics software which isn’t then sold onto google.
until that time, what choice is there?
Being able to track goals & conversions is a big plus on Flash interfaces. Good job. We’ve been using work arounds in our site and they’ve been somewhat okay.
Google Analytics may be a great tool, but getting them to fix a bug or otherwise render any customer support is virtually impossible. Props to Sprout for getting full integration with Analytics given Google’s indifference.
I think Sprout is amazing but my only problem with it is that it slows down the load times of our site, so we had to take it off.
Congrats to Carnet and the Sprout team. SproutMixer is very impressive!
We use Piwik (aims to be an open source alternative to Google Analytics) to do custom tracking in our ajax application. One could use Piwik to track flash events and build similar reports; i invite you to check it out (it’s still beta)

This should make gigawidget’s easier to implement. Thanks for the code.
One could use the mentioned ajax code to create a gigawidget for use in pre-arranged flash modules.
the Google Analytics API for Flash is open source
http://code.google.com/p/gaforflash/
so that means two things
- if we are not fast enougth to fix some bugs you can access the code directly
- anyone can use and integrate it in any flash app, widgets, etc.
Awesome stuff from an awesome team. Go Hawaii!
I just checked out the code from the link that Zwetan posted and have to say it’s very good! Well done to him and all on that open source project for creating something that has been missing from online analytics for far too long!!
bout time the flash users get some equality @_@
