Please, please, please, please, please stop this speculation and libel. Sid Agrawal, the CEO of SiPort, was a warm and compassionate man. Ask any of the hundreds of people who knew him in the Valley. Brian Pugh and Marilyn Lewis were warm, engaging people, full of life just a few days ago.

Your posts here are doing real harm to people who are coping to deal with this tragedy.

Bad things do happen to good people. This is one of those times.

Please put the victims’ families and the surviving employees families in your prayers.

Please boys and girls, desist with the remarks about minorities, or save the juicy tidbits at least for the white pointy-hooded personal gatherings. I’m sure many of Indian, Chinese etc abstraction are simply appalled by many of the comments above. Some of the remarks are simply ridiculous: a great many native-born “white” U.S. Americans aren’t even in command of the English language; it seems absurd to complain about the linguistic traits of others.

H1Bs has nothing to do with this – After a while immigrants blend into american thoughtsphere and act in similar ways. Few wks back, an Indian hedge fund manager killed his entire family in LA area. We all go nuts in a while, filled with sadness and anger, and easy availability of guns makes such incidents possible.

This is true – Indians talk more than Chinese and the reasons are two fold:
1) They can speak better English and hence can articulate their thoughts better.
2) Cultural reasons – Indians are like Italians in some sense – they talk about everything – including religion and politics.

I am sure you are a chinese immigrant.Let me tell you one thing , if you learnt immigration. The CEO was himself a Immigrant , a Indian.There are TONS of immigrants in silicon valley , infact they are majority in Silicon Valley. No immigrant is such a fool to get lured by some companies bad offer, since there are other companies and many options for them.
Also, stop condemning a dead person and give the man some respect. You are shameless person to say that the guy deserves it. Just imagine what his family might have gone through.
Also, u have no idea of that persons credibility, since ur knowledge is just 10%. So stop your nonsense.

Or simply stop hiring Chinese. They can’t speak English very well so when they get upset, they cant use words to articulate their feelings (remember Ocean’s Eleven and the acrobat in the vault?). So the resentment cannot find an outlet and gets bottled up over a period of time. The result is passive aggressive behavior, insecurity, craftiness, gamesmanship, victim syndrome, backstabbing, superiority complex, and, once in a while, triple homicide. I am pretty sure that the families of these men have to put up with a lot at home. Another big problem is that the community does not seem interested in discussing these issues openly. “He was such a nice and gentle guy.” How many times have we heard that? Engineers in general are not very good at communication and when you add lack of English knowledge, well, in high pressure situations (and startups deal with them on a daily basis), things can get really really messed up. Companies that hire Chinese should go out of their way to help them improve their communication skills. Remember, with Chinese, things are never what they seem. Management should always be proactive. The effort can be worth it because there are some really smart Chinese programmers out there who can make all the difference to a startup. They can be match winners. But for jobs like QA, well, …

this specific indident aside, what guessit said is actually a very real and prevalent problem as I too have come across many such Indians. It’s a sad fact that certain management teams are either too overworked or overwhelmed by huge teams to separate the brown-nosers from the workers. and also in America being loud and obnoxious seems to get you far while if you put your head down and work, people start to think that you must be plotting the next Columbine. It’s screwed up backarsewords thinking like these that’s the cost of extreme individuality and merciless capitalism.
