Swimming Pools are closed. The lawn is not worth mowing (it's autumn).
Saint Patrick's day is in 4 months time.

In a nutshell, I've found nothing better to do on LeWeb's days.

Seems a pretty cool place to have fun and meet fellow bloggers.

to be giving away one ticket to the TechCrunch reader who leaves the best comment about why they want to go:

I want to give love as well as be loved as on December 1st Love is in the air in Paris.

Meeting and reconnect to loved ones

Best,

Hi, I wanted to write a smart aleck response but I guess there are plenty of people who'd made a better use of a leweb ticket than me. I am based in Paris, but the reason why I didn't buy a ticket because my organization has scheduled a web 2.0 seminar that day where we will all discover exciting new things like blogs or youtube. In 2008. anyway, I thought that having a free ticket would be a good excuse not to go and learn something useful instead.

Because I met a girl from Paris who loves the web - and not just Facebook, but also Le Web visitors. I'm the only one with her number and it means I have a place to sleep. My friends (who go to Le Web) all have fancy hotels. The only way to impress them is with this. Please...?

I could sit here and probably think of any number of reasons to want to go to LeWeb, but if I had to be honest...

I'm young, around the age of 21 or so, and I've been working at a startup company for about a year now. It's been an exhilarating experience overall, and I find that anything I can get a chance to do helps me move forward in this industry.

The speakers at LeWeb are incredibly cool and knowledgeable, and I think it'd be really awesome to get a feel for how startups over in the UK function. If I could go to LeWeb myself, I would, but the fees are astronomical.

Whatever happens, I figured I'd probably kick myself down the road for not leaving a comment and seeing what possibly could've been. Thanks!

Ode to the Felicitous Alliance ‘Twixt TechCrunch and Le Web and the Proffer of the Gratis Conference Ticket

The Credit Crunch my precious pennies pinched,
I despaired dismal days of November.
Le Web aspirations this year unquenched,

‘Til hope’s light flickered; a fireside ember.
TechCrunch and LeWeb proffered an entree…
A commentator, a TechCrunch member,

With worthy raison d'être would enter free
To the conference in La Ville Lumiere.
“Why do you want to go?” was the query.

To share ideas and concepts compare,
Preview new top 30 competition,
Listen to entrepreneur Loïc Le Meur,

With entrants forge a lasting connection,
And hasten my projects to completion.

(Terza rima: a-b-a, b-c-b, c-d-c, d-e-d, e-e)

There are many reasons to go to Le Web 3. Like being the hottest place for web mingling in Europe, getting to know the up and coming entrepreneurs & VCs and show-time atmosphere that makes you want to chant "Yes we can! In Europe too!".

But the truth has to be told. The real reason to come is the food. That amazing catering with French cooks that prepare your delicious lunch on the spot in real-time and contextually match it to your taste better than Adsense ever could.

I'm from Chile, a small country in South America. I'm in Meudon, near Paris right now because my wife is in a master in Energy program until next year (in L'ecole centrale Paris).

The rate of web innovation in Chile (and South America) is very low, especially compared with North America and Europe, and there are several things that are hard to find, especially two: financial aid for startups (VC, angel investors, etc.) and the knowledge created by experience (failures and success) and by a culture of entrepreneurship.

I worked (until i left) in a startup that it's in stealth mode, helping with the business plan, and i used to help in a web entrepreneurship course in my university as assistant profesor (in the CS department). Also, like many of the people that read you, i spend some of my time thinking in startups that can change the world, and specially, the world i live in and the people close to me. I investigate, draft a business plan and let my imagination fly.

So, LeWeb 08 is a unique oportunity for me, but i can't afford the entrances fees (i'm young, can't work as a "visiteur", the exchange rate between my country and Europe doesn't help us and the living cost here is really high). The experience will be really helpful when i go back to my country and i don't know if i will ever have another opportunity like this.

Thanks

I want to send my friend and colleague, who lives in just outside Paris and works for INSEAD business school. She's an engineer/businesswoman focused primarily on innovation and tuned in daily to the work of the some of the most innovative business strategists in the world. She'll bring the information she learns to the rest of us, so that we can network the Le Web presenters in with other businesses and institutions that may help them, in Europe, N America, and Asia.

My cute 2nd-degree cousin as well as my fun ex-girlfriend are both staying in Paris right now. Going to LeWeb would be a great excuse to go hang out with them, besides it's only the most interesting tech event I've ever heard of.

I co-organized a tech conference in Germany myself, the IdeaLab! 2008. We had great speakers but it was much smaller, so I'd really like to see how the pros are doing it... Oh yeah, I'm also a poor student and my former employers from amiando are coming too. Well, that's all the reasons I can give you for now. If I can't make it this year, see you in 2009 ;-)

Why do I want to go? Because it's Paris. Because it's LeWeb, the place where I've had some of my best conference experiences. Because it's got Brian Cox speaking - a physicist at a 'tech' conference. Because it's one of the few European conferences that draws a big US crowd and I'll get to hang out with US friends. Because it draws lots of people from all over the EU and I get to make new friends. Because I can laugh at Ewan in his kilt. Because it's going to be fun!

Going to LeWeb is a dream. Once my dream becomes true I could plan my plans and decide whether or not to stick or quit my starting up ideas !

I have a few startups in mind and before i launch the projects I would like to learn from the experiences of other startups.

I am a student and would like to have a look at the universities there and get some real exposure.

I really want this and would be totally off the charts happy if I got this, pretty please:)

I am an IT student in a great school around Paris (EFREI), because Internet became my passion and my first workplace I would go to LeWeb 08.

I am currently working in a start-up in the City (London) until the end of the month then I will be back in France in order to develop my personal projects. So, because my entrepreneur's heart has plenty of projects I would go to LeWeb 08.

As a student and a young professional, I can’t afford the entrance fees. And as you understood I really want to go to LeWeb 08 so this ticket is my only way to access the conference and to take the most of this event.

Last thing, learning is really important for me and because it is better to learn of the people who have made a success of their work I would go to LeWeb 08.

I want the free ticket because:
- I have a cousin, uncle, another cousin and another uncle who live there and I haven't seen for years and years.
- I decided that in this economic storm startups should not pay thousands of dollars for a conference.
- All my friends are going every year and I still haven't been there even once.
- because I'm still single and I can just imagine how a party that Loic is organizing (in Paris!) will look like.
- And most importantly, my cousin (see above) is an amazing, beautiful model and we will both dress up in your shirt the all three days ;)
