You might to also check our JXInsight which offers a performance monitoring solution with significantly less overhead for Ruby applications running on the JRuby VM.

Cross Language Profiling with JXInsight Probes from Java-to-Ruby via JRuby

In the new year we will be releasing a native port of our Probes "Metering the Cloud" technology for all major Ruby VMs. This port will support all features listed here.

New Relic is an awesome tool for rails. Their team is really responsive as well.

I've used it on a side project, and also to find issues my job.

If you have yet to use it, do it now - as next week they are letting all users test out "gold" (deeper levels of support).

We ran this application on FunAdvice for a bit (2.3 million+ visitors, etc, with only 3 servers...so, performance is critical as we don't have processor power to spare). You learn a lot even with their trial version of the package installed.
