Thanks to reader tips we’ve had a chance to see IMVU’s racey new animated banner ads showing two women kissing as they fall downwards horizontally. The ad includes the message “live the lifestyle you’ve always dreamed of.” I signed up immediately.
The ad was spotted on Ustream, which prohibits content that is obscene or includes “pornography, erotica, child pornography or child erotica.” As far as I’m concerned this ad is none of that, but the Prop 8 supporters may disagree.

I agree, it does not interest me either… But i think the ad is not a problem… Its two people kissing, and well we see that every where, tv, movies, on the bus, in the coffee shop, in front of work…. I just don’t see the problem with the ad.

I think it depends on the site that is showing it. In YouTube you can show a girl wearing a thong but you can’t show a nipple. I imagine some of the most popular streams in ustream are of beautiful woman wearing next to nothing. Thus in many ways it could be called contextual… Plus virtual world’s kind of appeal to people who maybe don’t really fit in the real world so maybe stuff like this gives them some sort of connection they need to survive.
