Hi Oliver – Thanks for checking us out. A few answers to your questions: GoodGuide is not user generated. We collect data from a variety of public and private sources including Universities, private research firms, Socially Responsible Investor groups, non-profit organizations and public disclosures. We rate products on more than 140 different criteria. If you search for Procter & Gamble products through the “animal-friendly” search filter on the right side of the page, you will see that they get far more scarce. Some of their products may still have decent health scores despite poor environmental practices. You can dissect each rating to see how the product actually performs along all baseline criteria by clicking on the 1-10 score. It is true that not all products from a single company or its subsidiaries are created equal. We factor company practices as well as the performance of the actual product, its packaging, ingredients, etc, which ultimately produces a range of scores for many companies’ product lines. I definitely have been called a hippie freak before, and I’m still convinced that this is the most comprehensive and scientific analysis of a product’s health, social and environmental performance available. wow someone is finally being honest here.

does this mark the end? what does it all mean? where do we go from here? do we really need another website? cant we just work with the ones we got? are we experiencing the apex of innovation? where are all the game changers?

GoodGuide should also focus on for consumer services and brick and mortar stores. carpet cleaning, plumbing, dental, drycleaners, retail stores. now that would be a game changer.
