The whole gay marriage debate misses the most crucial point. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Simple, just as God intended, after all, marriage is based upon Biblical principles, not based upon man create legal status, although it has certainly come to mean that for a large portion of our society, which is a mistake. This in no way makes me or most Christians against equal rights. What I will not support is devaluing what my wife and I have (a marriage) by allowing immoral behavior to be included in what we have in the eyes of God. Marriage is more about faith and obedience to our God than it is a legal status. From a Christian point of view, gay marriage is a contradiction and against what God intends. This doesn't mean that we as Christians do not equally love all of God's children, what it does mean is that we will not sacrifice our beliefs in the name of political correctness (which seems to be more about making everyone embrace (or more accurately appear to embrace) the ~10% that aren't Christians in our society). This type of debate highlights the need for an equivilent legal status to protect these "partner" rights, instead of an attack (yes, from a Christian point of view these attempts at the merging of sinful behavior into our Godly union is percieved as an attack on us just as the gay's think that propositions like this are percieved as attacks against them). My Marriage and Gays' Unions can coexist, and the legal rights can and should be exactly the same for both statuses. What cannot coexist is calling both of these things a "marriage", because they are most certainly not the same thing. Thank you.

It has nothing to do with the civil rights movements and it wouldn't be wise to bring up the holocaust. Look back in history farther than that, like founding fathers and principles that America was founded on. There was such a thing as separation of church and state. Well, that left long time ago. People are so scared of gays because "God didn't create them." Well, that's church. What does that have to do with the state? Not everyone believes that way. Not everyone believes in God and they are being overlooked because there is no separation of church and state. Besides Adam and Eve procreated and then their kids did the same thing. It's called inbreeding and that causes brain tweaks. What do they say homosexuality is? A brain tweak? I guess God unknowingly created the homosexuality gene. Put that in your bible and stuff it.

I implore you, Michael, to aboid these types of posts on TechCrunch. They absolutely do not belong here. Stick to Tech, PLEASE.

Many religious people have strong views that the way humanity has functioned for 5000 years is a good one and that children are best served by a mother and a father, and that Prop 8 is good.

I'm tired of intolerance for religious views with the force of history on their side.

Google doesn’t have any obligation to run ads like these, and I believe they would be correct in banning it.

That's Censorship. You are advocating the curtailment of rights upheld by the American Constitution. Shame on you. Some of you Politically Correct people are not much different than religious fanatics and totalitarianists.

FFS. This might be hateful stuff, but since when does Google let personal opinions come into play? They're a business, and a business cannot be ethical. No matter what Google says, being ethical never got a business anywhere.

Sure Google may have a strict view on this and that they don't support it. But that's like Google saying they support McCain and filtering out any advertisement that mentions Obama.

It's not ethical. But yet again, when is any company ethical? Google will take their money and let them advertise, obviously as they've done because the advertisements are still showing up...

Dwayne.

Why do people care what gay people do in the bedroom, who cares what lesbians do, who cares what Bisexuals do. Who cares if Blacks and whites get married. You only live one life(unless you believe in a magical place in the clouds that your spirits go to after you die), my opinion is do who you want and have fun.

Micheal, I didn't think you were the type of person that would label proponents of Prop 8 as gay-haters. You don't think its possible that they respect homosexuals but believe that marriage is between a man and a woman?

An embarrasingly discriminatory measure? I think you would understand the consequences that would come about if law permitted gay marriages, right? Churches would become hate organizations, church-sponsored adoption agencies would have to close their doors, etc... just what our country needs, less church and more reasons do things that are against human nature.

I'm so sorry to hear that you think this way. Either you haven't thought this through completely or you just don't understand it. If gay marriage is allowed, pretty soon we will no longer be able to talk about God.... and once we no longer acknowledge the God that gave us this land and established this great country, our prosperity will end.

From a man proud to be an American and believes that we prosper because of our belief in God and our determination to do what is right.
