This is now well past speculation. Owen Van Natta, Facebook’s former Chief Revenue Officer and Amazon’s former Vice President of Worldwide Business and Corporate Development, is the new CEO of Project Playlist.
Or at least that’s what he’s been telling people, we’ve heard from multiple sources.
The company hasn’t returned our emails, even to say “no comment.” Same with Van Natta. We sent TechCrunch writer Jason Kincaid by their offices today to get the brush off in person, and the company duly complied. “Our CEO isn’t available to talk to you,” an unidentified spokesperson said. In response to the question “Who is your CEO?” she answered “I can’t tell you that information.”
On the upside, the site’s back up.

I’m not sure what to think about the idea of someone not talking to techcrunch being news.
how about you call their phone # and do the dial by name directory Owen will come up. He obviously works there.
How does this differ from Imeem.com? Anyone?
amatuer hour.
the big baby that quit facebbok because mark wouldnt allowed him to become ceo. finally becomes a ceo.
Why are they hiding it? To hype it up?!?
my guess is they’ll announce him along with a RIAA deal and/or a funding. An email to us asking us to hold our post would have done the trick.
Or maybe they’re just looking to get another couple TechCrunch posts out of it (and succeeded).
Would it have done the trick? Seems that TC’s reputation did suffer a bit when Erick posted that email from Jason despite a clear request not to…
Could try to catch them off guard by calling and asking for Owen Van Natta by name (rather than by title). Maybe they’ll slip and say something like, “Mr. Van Natta isn’t available right now. Would you like to leave a message?”
I love project playlist – but lately it seems like its loading songs to slow. I click the url of the song and it loads just fine.
Do you think there is a connection with Owen coming on board?
GO PLAYLIST, WE LOVE YAS
thanks….
