The major job boards here in Australia are already awash with duplicated and cross posted jobs, which creates ‘noise’ and frustrates the job seeker, because it means they have to search through 5-10 times more jobs than actually exist. This is why so many job seekers don’t waste their time with the big job boards, unless they are desperately seeking a new job (pun intended for you Aussies).

It seems to me that Simply Hired just exacerbates this problem, by bringing together all the duplicated and cross posted ads from everywhere!

Linkedin was included into the About.com Top 10 employment site list…linkedin is still the only social network on the list though…..the newest 3 on the list are-

I can think of 6 sites like this that have launched in the UK in the last 6 months. All of them seem based on indeed.com -everyone seems to have the same idea!

As for me, I’m not a loyal user of any job boards… I’ll check out anything that shows up first on Google. Since SimplyHired is gaining a strong foothold in the market using a relatively easy-to-develop mashup… perhaps other job portals will adopt the same practise. One positive aspect of that is… convenience to jobseekers. But on the other hand – stiff competition for job portals

The Australian market is currently served by players like Recruit.net, Careerjet, Jseekers and myspider . This in addition to the 200 or so job boards serving a country of 20 million.

Crowded? Perhaps yes, but ultimately job seekers will be the main benefactors, and the thriving Australian blogging community will certainly welcome Simplyhired’s jobomatic service.

History, however, is not kind to American companies who enters the Australian market. Monster and Hotjobs failed to make any dent in the late 1990s/early 2000s, and ultimately quit the market. Only, time will tell if Simplyhired will be any different.

Here in Australia, definitely going to have a hard time getting anywhere against Seek (www.seek.com.au or http://www.seek.com). Biggest job site in Australia and publicly listed.

Many have tried, no one seems to gain anything against them.
