Don't really understand all of this VC advice and layoffs. Many of these companies rely on Internet advertising for revenue. Internet ad revenue is expected to grow next year, despite financial problems. Might not grow as fast, but still won't be down.

Seems to me the only thing that is going away is funding. So companies that rely on funding to stay alive will be the ones taking the hit.

Cha Cha probably won't have to lay off anyone since they cut the pay rate in half for part time workers, which equates to the majority of guides on their site. You thought 20 cents per text query was bad? How about 10 cents? Ha! Perhaps that is why they are having trouble keeping up with search demand as evidenced by all the emails they keep sending out b/c not enough guides are logged in and working. Here's a clue: pay more!!!
