Two things;
a) I don’t mind what they do, just give me the option to remove the thing if I don’t like it.
b) Having this sidebar is like giving me a list of what I have in my pocket. I know what is is on my homepage, I don’t need links taking up a third of the page to remind me.
Thumbs down to the sidebar, I’m afraid.

They finally got to igoogle.be too… (changed from .com to .be and kept the old lay-out for months)

Great alternative for all who hate the new igoogle – netvibes.com – Google has already stated that other countries’ igoogle formats will also be changed to the new and much hated format soon – send iEvil… er… google a message they will hear and leave! I deleted my account with them and my new netvibes home has all I had at igoogle and more – NO left nav menu, no wasted space and tabs on top!

Currently the only site infected with the left tab is the US. If you are using one of the other countries you will not see it. I went back to Yahoo, i can’t stand to see that inch wide strip off to the left and the way it messed up the fonts It is hard to read.

This will work for awhile. Unfortunately other countries’ formats will eventually be changed as the US version has been; Google has already announced that. Also, when you search using your ie, uk, ca, etc., most of the search results will be pages from whatever country’s igoogle you are using.

One of the discussion threads at Google is titled Experimental iGoogle Features and has 798 posts dating back to July 8 2008. “Test-subjects” hated the new layout from the beginning and all complaints and questions have been completely disregarded. Netvibes is MY new homepage!

I agree wholeheartedly. I spent hours getting my tabs just the way I wanted them…now I have an ugly navbar instead. I want my tabs back. I really don’t need links to the items on my pages because I spent so much time laying them out so I don’t have to scroll all the time! At least give us the option to go back to the tabs.

Gmail has actually become virtually unusable with the new home page. The Gmail “maximized” widget is a sham – aside from numerous bugs like HTML links not working in messages, a lot of the function is missing. I hate this new UI!

I used to use MyYahoo, until they screwed it up, then I deleted the whole page because they changed it and never went back! I just may do the same with iGoogle!

I’ll give them a few more days and if ifs not fixed back to like it was, I’ll delete it all just like MyYahoo and I’ll never go back to it!!
