I found this thread through a convoluted series of Google searches. Better late than never I guess. I used to think free was the way to go and tried everything that was free. I spent more time looking for VPN’s and Proxy’s than downloading. Hotspot Shield and Personal VPN are both good options. I’ve been using Surfbouncer for a couple of months and find them good too. Well, i guess it just is not that easy to strike a deal that spans multiple countries. And in a way, this could be a wake up call for the EU, to do something about the fragmentation. I wouldn’t mind if it has that effect.

Anchorfree works well but has a transfer limit..3GB I think. Just FYI if you plan on using it a lot. A, dare I say it, “paid” VPN service (aforementioned http://www.witopia.net or http://www.hotspotvpn.com are good ones) would be better if you stream a lot of audio, or video like Hulu. Plus, I always found the anchorfree ads irritating.

You can still access Hulu and MySpace Music from outside USA. I am using both of them and without a problem, and really enjoying them.

Not that you’re missing anything, all the audio is crappy 96k mp3 – do yourself a favor and stick to imeem/last.fm/deezer who all deliver content at a much more aurally acceptable 128kbit/sec.

I also kept running into a bug that would cause multiple tracks to play at the same time until I reloaded the page.

After all this noise and hype, it is not surprising that this is the best service that the aging myspace founders together with the clueless music executives could come up with. The best part is that they are empowering music piracy, as now any user with half a brain can download the complete catalogs from all FOUR major labels completely painlessly and free. Even with a simple browser, like Safari, a user can just go to the Activity window and see all the music played being downloaded to the computer…just add it to iTunes and voila, not need for Amazon!

I agree, and this is even more true of Hulu which I’ve actually used from time to time but it’s a huge pain.

You would think that existing provisions would at least make it easy to make this stuff available throughout North America.

It certainly won’t be popular if they behave like this. My opinion of Hulu (and their parent News Int) is unprintable, after I recently wasted 10 minutes before I managed to find a viewable version of the SNL Palin sketch because they managed to ban it from youtube, and it seems myspace is showing equal contempt.
