MySpace Music, the joint venture between MySpace and the big music labels, is set to launch this month, and almost certainly sometime this week. MySpace has spent the last few weeks briefing advertisers and the labels in preparation for the launch.
The new service will launch at music.myspace.com but will look completely different than the existing site. Users will be able to stream music for free, create playlists, download music from Amazon, buy merchandise and event tickets, and buy ringtones.
We’ve been pounding our sources for screenshots of the new service for weeks without any luck. But today we managed to obtain these three screenshots from an anonymous source. These may be old mockups, or they may be photoshopped fakes, but here they are. We’ll know soon enough.
The first shot is probably the new MySpace Music homepage and shows featured playlists and videos. The second screenshot looks like a user admin panel for music, and the third is an artist page for Jonas Brothers that shows the new player.
The screen shots are below:

Hopefully, Myspace will allow artists that have profiles to sell thier music.

I love the power of blogging. You’re not sure if these pictures are legit, but “We’ll know soon enough.” The power of being first.
appear to be legitimate….
i think the music / audio part on myspace was always the only part that i did not consider to be too cheezy for viewing since it actually gives you ability of uploading pretty high quality stuff as well as thus far the individuals with no skills in web dev. as well as no idea of promotion were able to create play lists and import custom players that would somewhat protect from © infridge/refridge. mtnt
Honestly, I like it. Everything but the logo, that is. That part sucks.
myspace is a place for friends
and music
i love working here and many of my friends are busting their butts
I hope you like it !
Phone shots?
COME ON!
How difficult it is to PrtScrn or Apple+Shft+3 ???
Ever stop to think the photographer might not be the owner of the computer? Or maybe the Office they work in has the systems locked up for data removal?
Dumbass.
This venture has one major problem: the recording studios are involved!
“Recording studios”? Uh, no. Do you mean three of the four major music conglomerates?
This is going to be a success. Streaming music for free from the big labels plus all the other stuff that myspace provides. Its a perfect platform. They will only fail if someone else comes up with something better, and with myspace´s headstart that wont be easy. Imeem, last.fm, Deezer, Rhapsody will have a hard time keeping up, I think.
you don’t know Jack.
(bad pun)
Isn’t it imeem, last.fm, deezer and Rhapsody that have the head start here? They’re all offering what myspace music took 8 months to add to myspace, in fact they’re all offering more, more music from more labels, and more money to go to those indie artists who’re getting left out in the cold with myspace.
looks like a viral marketing campaign from the Jonas Brothers mgmt. First screen shots of myspace music or just some pr for the fab 3?
This honestly doesn’t look all the different than it is right now. I hate MySpace, but they do have a good music program (because for some reason a lot of Artist use it). Everyone should switch to PureVolume or something like it; then I’d be happy.
Try the Madtown Lounge

The site is pretty popular in the Midwest and is slowly gaining traction outside this area.
Is there anything that is going to change my crappy opinion of myspace to one of potpourri and snow flakes? Otherwise it will continue to stink.
Excellent news! This test, everything is fine, except the logo, clearly not much to choose it repaired.
Thanks!
Juan Pedro
It looks like the monitor was swinging on a pendulum as the screen shots were taken. As for the layout? Clean and simple. Much nicer than Godaddy.com’s brand new layout that just went live a few minutes ago. *coughtipcough
Looks nice!
Jonas Brothers????!!!! MySpace Music “leaking” screenshots with the Jonas Brothers must be just pure coincidence…
Reminds me how much I hate Disney’s marketing machine (although I do respect it), and how stupid the public is for sucking in all this garbage.
I like to go around and listen to the musicians on myspace that are friends of the more well known stars. Some are very good – I wouldn’t have thought of MySpace as a good idea, but the music angle is the part that has a vertical market. But that’s why I also sold my McDonalds stock at $2.15 because it would never catch on.
These are the fakest “leaks” I’ve ever seen. Sure, they may really be shots of MySpace Music, but they were probably sent out by the site itself for a little more PR buzz.
Seriously, is the photographer incapable of holding a cell-phone camera still enough to take a picture from a non-sideways angle? I don’t get why they don’t just release official high quality preview screenshots.
just the google chrome leaks

music is one of the most played out commodities on the internet, combined with selling books and auction sites. in the future quality artists will learn they will always float to the top of the musical food chain by user generated reviews, bypassing the established music companies all together.
BroadcastLocator.com
Looks a lot like the Yahoo! music site. I mean a lot. MySpace should just give up, they just can’t keep up with better interfaces and they have to resort to stealing them.
Yeah, I bet yahoo music is a real concern of theirs. They should just close up show because “Becker” here says so…dumbass.
A UI is not defensible, and certainly this one is not unique to any company.
More videos more fun:)
i love music. and hope myspace give chance to those independent music artist to sell in their site.
This is what could truly make myspace the ultimate music site… every artist has a myspace page, the company should leverage that long tail of artists who already promote themselfs on the site. Now they could sell and recommend music allowing us to find better music.
There one thing though… not every artists in myspace has the skills to master their music so quality issues could arise.
Looks like a rip off of ilike and PLAYLIST.COM.
This is like calling a plug removed from the sink a leak – If you take the plug out, surely you must expect the water to leave.
And if you want to use MySpace only for music (no friends), go on MyArtists and create Mixtape from MySpace tracks !
http://www.musi...c.net/myartists
The speech:
“MyArtists is an online service to browse, listen and group your favorit MySpace artists. You can then follow artists actuality (blogs, shows, music) and this without the need of any MySpace account.
You can also listen all tracks of your favorit artists and create your own mixtape. “
Another company living out of the flash player
People still use myspace??
enough hype! it’s got a lot to live up to. just release it already…
MySpace is somewhat hamstringed in any major redesigns to the site because they have allowed the artists themselves to define the layouts.
So changing the flash player and allowing songs to be ported around to other parts of the site is one of the few things they can be done to the artists pages without each artist getting involved.
I’m sure this isn’t the only change coming, but as the creator of a live music listings site (www.hearwhere.com) which integrates data from MySpace, I’m happy to see MySpace leveraging there content.
Though as the majors labels are involved in this initiative as well, i suspect MySpace Music will be focused on revenues for signed artists, and forget about the independent artists who helped make the site what it is today.
Interesting to learn that Arrington gets his stories by sleeping with the MySpace PR. That’s what I call going to any length to nail (!) the story!
