If you like taking and sharing photos on your iPhone, add this to your list of must have applications: Gesture. The $4.99 application lets you turn any photo you take on the iPhone into a really cool artwork-type image. Easily pointilize the photo, or zoom in and do the detail work yourself. My quick artwork is above, with my dog Laguna acting as the model.
Altered images can be saved in the photos folder and/or posted to the web (example). Publicly saved images can be viewed here.

The touchscreen probably isn’t the best for creating highly detailed art, but these apps look like fun. Like casual gaming in app form.
you can zoom way in, so it actually works well. It’s like finger painting.
see this one for example:
or this one:
Ok, this one finally looks cool.
one more:
Ah very cool, so zoomed in the finger almost becomes a small brush.
that is very good feature only for less than $5
Nice app!
Cool. I’m still waiting for video.
someone likes dill pickles. didn’t know MA was a canning expert too.
I think Michael has it exactly right — this is the type of app where mobile really creates a whole new paradigm. I have Photoshop, but when I sit down in front of my computer, I feel like I need to spend the time doing “real” work (or reading TechCrunch).
When I’m waiting in line somewhere or bored in a meeting, however, is a perfect time to play with fun stuff like doing Art.
Wow not bad or $4.99 !
seriously people? hey ill give you 5 bucks to make my pictures look crappier, i could buy a whole jar of vasiline for that and mess up my pics for years….pretty much the same thing
this is art I guess ?
well not all people appreciate Picasso.
From a tech perspective though, it is pretty impressive considering its running off the iphone so thumbs up for that
looks kinda like a cheesy photoshop filter…
Umm….the iphone already take s incredibly shitty pictures. Can’t think of a good reason to make them worse.
This is a creative idea, and pretty cool you can do it from an iphone. I can see why someone would maybe want to paint their own picture, but why would you paint on a picture from the camera? Also, it seems like it would be hard to paint something specific with your finger…could be easier with some sort of pen like object
Dude. It’s 4.99! Play with it, or move on.
