They further confirmed the September 23rd announcement, cemented the rumors that there will be 3 different colors (all signs point to black, white, and brown), and then mentioned one little special tid-bit: the release date.

Not a chance. The iPhone is as much a religion (as with all Mac devices) as it is a tool. Nice to have options though.

May I kindly suggest buying a DSLR camera on ebay, a shoe mount flash, bouncing the flash and placing the item on a white cloth? or did they want a rough photo with a cow skin like background?

it looks strange but for sure it will be very powerful !
I’m curious as to how the good the browser will be. I’m assuming it will be superior to most phones (I’m going to assume the iPhone can’t be beat, but I hope I’m wrong).

BB has it all , I am business person , I don’t need to watch TV on a 2.5″ screen . that’s why I have a 52 ” at home
I have a nice stereo and an Ipod , I don’t need to constantly check my face book
and I if I want to go on the web , That’s why I have a Lap top ( I hate reading 2MM type )
I am older and old school . But I have a phone for receiving and making calls , and if I can get my business e-mails and attachments I fine .. Why all this bullshit over applications that one out ever 100 will use

The browser is just wonderful: beautiful and fast. I use it on my Nokia N810. The Android browser is faster and better than the device’s original, although Android only runs in a virtual environment inside of the Maemo operating system.
Iphone is a fashionable gadget that everyone wants. Google’s Andrioid is a software that help solves real mobile phone problem. I think it is really a time for Blackberry or other PDA phones to really worry about their market share.

With the look at this HW design, Google with the help of HTC has a long way to go in the area of design to be on par with the likes of RIM/APPLE/NOKIA.

Wow looks like every other junk pda phone out there. This isn’t even close to the level of apple.
I don’t think it’s an iPhone killer, I think it’s a Windows Mobile and Symbian killer. People are mistakenly assuming that to be successful in this market, you need to beat the iPhone. The reality is, this device looks like it competes far more effectively against Microsoft and Nokia smart phones, still a huge part of the market. It may be especially successful in the enterprise segment, in fact, I could see it eventually killing off RIM, with RIM in the interrim writing a Blackberry client for Android.
In the long term however, open standards mobile/push email, like the IETF Lemonade project spell the eventual doom of proprietary push mobile email.

Those who say it’s an iPhone killer, I do disagree. Nowhere close to being an iPhone killer. Go out and ask your friends who’ve never heard of Chrome or blogs or even Flickr (the not-so-techie people) if they have a clue what Android is. Ask them if they’ve heard of the iPhone. Chances are, they’ve heard of the iPhone, but have no clue on what Android is.
A good majority of the world’s population isn’t as well-informed of the on-goings in the tech world, contrary to belief. I’ve a handful of friends who couldn’t name three different browsers off the tops of their heads, who happen to own iPhones. The iPhone isn’t directed at just the tech-inclined group. The Android may be. The non-techies of the world don’t look at if a phone has the API’s to begin developing applications; they look at the sleekness and ease-of-use. And face it, the iPhone looks better.
This isn’t to say that I’m anti-Android. Quite the contrary. I’m highly anticipating the Android; this message was just directed to those that believe that it may be an iPhone-killer. On the other hand, it may just taking away some attention from smart phones..
