I'll probably get flamed for this:

What, exactly, is Ev an "expert" at? Getting lots of users and getting lots of VC, perhaps. Growing a viable, profitable business? That has yet to be seen.

But I suppose he IS an expert at the Web 2.0 way of doing things: Don't bother building a real business - just get really popular and get someone to buy you out.

Mike, as others have mentioned great move on live-streaming the whole thing. I wasnt able to attend but was very pleased to catch some of the demos in real time. I found the sheer quality of talent and insightful feedback to be very inspirational. Hopefully, this type of transparency and free/open knowledge sharing will set a trend for other conferences to follow.

Keep up the good work man. You're doing a great service by inspiring all the would-be entrepreneurs out there.

..btw, Mark Cuban interview w/Jason was one of the best that i've heard--at any conference..great job to both of them.

Like Sam, I was watching from the UK (London to be specific) and stayed up late each night to catch all the sessions. It was a great opportunity to see businesses, experts, VCs etc. from this side of the pond where the level of entrepreneurship isn't as high. After viewing it from afar, I would love to be there in person next year.

A massive thanks to both Michael and Jason for their generosity in streaming the whole conference. You deserve all the cudos you have been getting!

Mr Cuban on the panel was one of the highlights for me. He was succinct and straight to the point about his views on imindi. His straight talking may offend some but he was constructive in his advice. For me, alot of companies try to appeal too hard to the masses - when a better business model would be to focus on a certain niche demographic. Overall it was a great conference to watch. Having the live streaming gave all us U.K peeps the chance to watch along, and gave it a real advantage over Demo. Although, many a morning I was left bleary eyed from my early morning viewing. Nowadays, with the technology permitting, every conference should get their stream on. The only downer for me was the overall winner. Not that I knock the idea. They saw a gap, went for it & implemented it well. I would just argue, like many people, that its twitter with a more focused approach. Goodguide or Fitbit were my two choices. Both very original and well implemented ideas. Swype was truly amazing, but then having the dude who invented predictive text as designer gives them a massive boost anyway. One tip for next year, get a specialist host in. Kind of like the MTV awards does each year. Last thing, kudos on the music selection. I was expecting Fiddy or lil' Jon to come out and rap during the interval ;)

i even think that the presenters and demoPit guys like me needed time to sit with things. in retrospect the real success of tc50 from our perspective is accessibility to real thinkers and do'ers with authentic humility like evan.
keep bringing in down-to-earth truly talented people, make them even more accessible and tc will continue to matter.
off-panel expert openness was just not apparent to many "in the moment" and i personally wish i could have spent more even more time with some like evan williams, george zachary and even non-vc types like scoble.

We must say "Thank You !! So Much !!" to TechCrunch50 Experts.

We studied so much and got so many good friends at the TC50.
It was an awesome experience for us and it will be a big change for our business.
We hope TechCrunch 60 or 70 (or 80 or 90..) at 2009 will develop and evolve more and more.

Tonchidot will "stay hungry and stay foolish.." as long as we will continue.
We want to make the change of the world from looking down to lookin up.
There is no limit to the sky, just as there is no limit to our imagination...

Tonchidot team respects TechCrunch50. Thank you again and again and again.

Yup. I also need some emotional distance to forget the really killer funny and entertaining demos so I can dispassionately check into them myself without being wowed by the demo itself. That said, I'm still at a loss to explain how Yammer won. There's so many other things I like better, both from a user or a business point of view. But, I guess that's why I'm not a VC and rather someone who goes around with a video camera.

Absolutely, Mike. As Evan said in his quote, I think we all need time in general to sit and evaluate the sheer amount of companies, products and ideas displayed at TC50. I know personally, its a whirlwind just watching the coverage play out on the net without being there in person, so I can only imagine how it is if you actually attend the show.

I know I'll be taking many days to weed through all the TC posts on TC50, and check out sites I find interesting individually to learn more.

Thanks again for putting on such a great event. As a young entrepreneur, it's great fun to watch.
