DotSpots is a brilliant ideas (and not just because it rhymes with TotSpot )…I agree that widespread adoption is key b/c layering on the social graph (see your friends comments on anything anywhere) will really be the gamechanger…If I were them, I would quickly add the ability to email the link to the article and your comment in it to your friends to spur growth. Love the idea.

Ben – not sure if all those ideas out there that essentially made millions really looked to have a ‘revenue model’ at first. It starts with a passion and what one believes is missing out there. The revenue will come. Remember when Google was first forming? All of us (including me) were saying ‘yet another search engine’ ‘how in the heck will they compete and make money’… well do I will be the first to say I stand corrected. So overall, I look for new trends and ideas, the $ for them will come.

I enjoyed hearing about dostpots which clearly stood out amongst this first round of presentations. Have already been thinking how I might use it and bring visitors to my site. Can you imagine? Leaving notes, my comments on ANY site out there and getting all those readers reading my comments. WOW! That would mean I can comment about an article, leave my name and site and if folks like my comments, then they just visit my site. We are talking about FREE advertising and reach on all major sites. CNN, BBC, Google reader and so on… I just can’t wait.

I suppose it’s a different crowd but a lot of us depend on memes and news every single day. For me, I don’t think I can live without one. I have became too dependent on it. I don’t flip papers, I filter and click what I want
