Are you feeling it? We’ve seen reports of just data and we’re waiting to hear back from AT&T. CrunchGear’s Peter Ha is not getting any data over 3G or EDGE while I am. Who knows. Quoth AT&T:
“We are aware of the reports, and we are looking into it.”
What does this mean? No email, web, or maps for iPhone users and potential problems for Blackberry email.

It’s not just today – I’ve had slow speed on the 3G since day 1 north of Boston and calling the support line is just useless.

Same here… no data in the NE (for me, as of 4am). Ironically, I just assumed it was my iPhone not working again…. because data in Manhattan is *always* bloody slow.
I’m in Cambridge, MA and I am not getting data via Edge as of 11:31 AM EDT.
OMG! Could the prophecies be true, is this the end of days? If I were you, I’d start stocking up on bottled water and canned goods.

Edge network being the edge of their IP network that connects to the Internet, not GPRS EDGE the cellular network. I have 3 bars of 3G.
Was down in NYC until about an hr ago.
I havent been able to get email or surf since 10am this morning. Today aside my 3G is still extremely flaky.
Got this just now from our Corporate IT: “Notice from AT&T: All Data application on 2G and 3G iPhones are failing in the NE region. This issue is impacting GSM and UMTS Iphone customers only. Voice services are not impacted.”

Data works absolutely fine on the first generation iPhone in NJ.
Everything seems to be OK here in the midwest. I wasn’t up early enough to notice any data outages, but it is possible it went down here too.

I sent a note to AT&T telling them I’m not paying that extra $10 a month for 3G service if it doesn’t work. Most reliable network my ass. I never have had so few bars. I suggest you all complain also. Login to http://www.att.com/wireless, then go to the support>features>report a problem

I’m in Boston and was just driving around and not able to send or receive emails. As soon as I turned 3G off I was able to though. I’m starting to get used to turning 3G off actually. But I still have a sexy phone, and isn’t that all that really matters? After all, he who dies with the most toys, wins.

Lately I have been contemplating a separate data plan for laptop, looks like I’ll go with Verizon on this one.

Am getting intermittent service in suburbs of Philadelphia, 3G very slow
Wow, so I’m not alone. Had the problem in DC and thought I was just in a bad cell. Turned off 3G hoping maybe Edge would work but same problem. Eventually got my email about 12:45 in one big dose, but wasn’t able to use Pandora or AOL Radio or other functions until much later.
My phone and data have both been out all day. AT&T blamed it on the UMTS data problem. Has anyone experiencing these outages been able to use the phone? I get a “no service” message for the phone.
I had issues with my ATT Windows Mobile phone’s access to email (Exchange and Gmail) since about 3am and 11am in New York City.
Could this issue affecting iPhones really just be ATT’s whole data network?
What was weird was I could surf the web on the browser but none of my data apps could get a connection (email and some other random apps I use).
No problems getting data all day in NY 7am-4pm or CT 5pm ->
BlackBerry email doesn’t use a typical TCP/IP Data connection so it was not apparently affected …

From what I am reading this was a serious outage that was caused by some routing problem in the NorthEast (as also mentioned earlier in this post).
I had some issues getting data this morning, around 10am in Boston..couldn’t get email, connect to any apps that required a connection. All fine now.
My service was not working while I was taking a shit at work, I was really bummed.
While trying to take a piss, I couldn’t get a data connection so I just took a piss on the phone to show how much AT&T is worth.
