Ustream is broadcasting the Republican National Convention live (as I type) and Google has embedded its coverage into the Elections section of Google News.
Why is this news? Because apparently this is the first time Google has embedded a non-Google service into one of its core pages. At least, that’s what Ustream is telling us and we have no evidence with which to disagree.
You can watch the full live coverage below:

I’ll take coverage from the outside via http://www.democracynow.org/ over a camera pointed at the inside any day. See today’s episode – particularly important.
Video looks great! Congrats Ustream…
Laura
Wow, they are embedding on Google? What an honor for them.
@Laura – I agree, this quality is really good. I thought I was going to miss the RNC (my cable is out). Thanks Ustream
I like Obama, but impressive Ustream..
W00t.. Go McCain!
If John McCain becomes president, only god can save america.
If Obama becomes President, the only change you might see is in your Pockets. What used to be Dollars will only be change with him in office. With the way Obama is going, you can forget about GOD saving America. He would rather not have religion like most Communist Countries. Go back to school Kris. Try to learn something. History does repeat itself. America does not need outside enemies to fight. With Obama we will destroy ourselves from within.
Woah that’s crazy. Had no idea ustream could support that kind of traffic.
gj ustream!
Just thought that I’d add in that it is actually several seconds ahead of CNN, Fox News, etc….
Not that it really matters for a speech, but it does give bonus points to ustream for me.
Not that I really care about RNC…. I just don’t care for McCain
McCain?? ** COUGH **
We need change. Obama!
Nice work Ustream. Live is definitely the next big thing for news.
There’s a great deal more than just uStream being embedded – this is about a new level of political information being spread across the Internet. It’s about the choice of being able to watch this important coverage from your computer in a coffee shop or in the comfort of your home. It’s about being able to see the speeches the news networks don’t deem “important.”
Google’s doing a great service spreading the uStream across their network – it’s making sure people have access to this new and rising option for your political coverage. Screw CSpan and Fox News.
Nice job done, Ustream!
Props to Ustream for pulling it off..
Better than the “2″ downloads (yes two!) that crashed my browser from Silverlight and the DNC
yup. i got the same thing, took me ages to find a decent stream.
grats to ustream. they seem to be handling the demand quite well.
Great Job on uStream and Google part..
Looks Good Ustream!
Anybody know how much of a market share the Olympics got Silverlight, I know i downloaded it. I’m thinking of removing it just out of spite >:)
Video looks great!
I like the video but not the person in that. Liberman sucks big time.
Liberman is the only Dem that has a brain… NObama…
Video Quality is great. It will sure beat watching Wolf on the Clinton News Network
Thanks UStream! this is a great service. Im looking foward to hearing Sarah Palin’s speech in particular.
Wow, I must say Mrs. Palin was impressive, not only is she articulate but she brings up some very good points with her charismatic personality. The only thing I would have liked to see them speak about on this campaign is America’s Health Care Reform. Besides that one issue, I think they have really covered everything else that is on the public’s mind these days. In my personal opinion I believe with all my heart’s conviction that John McCain is the only hope our nation has to move into the future and secure a place of respect, honor, and wisdom that would make our forefathers proud. Let us all unite and make the founders of this great country proud and remember that we are all in this together. Let us put aside our differences and cast a vote that will change our nation for the better. Let us vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin for President and Vice President of the United States of America!
