Christ, the domain name works. Modal female behavior is not likely to use a site like this regardless of the name. The nature of the site cuts out half the audience, and I am fine with that. Focus on target group and give them what they want.

The idea is working in a competitive landscape. However, they are offering brands an interesting way to interact with consumers, so that is a leg up on other sites. It is not just advertising. Lastly, I like that these guys are funding it out of pocket. What need to they have for VC? If they scale as their traffic grows then they will have a better product in the long-run as well as a better understanding of the audience.

I like the comment about splitting the site and having 2 sites – but let’s get back to the main point.

Is this viable over time?

I disagree. I think it can get some traffic. But the kind of traffic that will get them out of the gravitational pull of the internet dead? I don’t think so.

Don’t get me wrong cool concept – but I have about 2-3 of these ideas a day but never go get money to fund them.

Why is everybody talking about the name cutting out half the audience as a big deal? Couldn’t they just replicate the code for woman and have two different sites? Then create a 3rd site which merges the two. Sometimes it is nice to have a place for just the guys. Woman complicate things when it comes to men. I imagine woman would say the same thing.

Also there are a lot of men in this world. Enough to make a website profitable.

Great concept. I have to agree about the name, since it cuts out the other half. But I’m really loving the styling of the Identity. I only wish they had extended the creative juices a bit and broken the “better man” out of that classic bathroom sign. Either way, looks like a great effort and a great little concept. Eh, maybe this is a niche thing. I did work with a guy who loved these kind of videos but I don’t see it being “the next big thing”… IMHO
