The company needs to work on its rejection letter:

"Thanks for applying to JamLegend. Nearly 300 people applied for our 3 internship positions, and the talent pool was great.

Unfortunately, we're writing to inform you that we are not going to move forward to the next round with your application.

We'll probably be asked to provide feedback on why an application was not selected and although we cannot give specific responses, a couple of reasons seemed to come out:

A) The submission may have been sparse, lazy, or incomplete- If it's not important enough for you to take the time to follow our requirements, then it's not important for us to consider you. In general, blasting 900 resumes without a cover letter for context to a bunch of different companies is probably not going to help you land an internship.

B) We didn't see the passion and the fit- Especially for startups, we are not only looking for someone who meets the requirements, but we're looking for someone who exceeds those requirements by showing a passion for what we do.

C) Lack of demonstrated talent- We look for signs of the ability to execute and specific experience in the position you were applying for. If we have not seen a compelling interest or history of execution, we’re likely to pass. We realize that you may be just beginning to develop your skills. In that case, we highly recommend that you continue working on side projects, open-source projects, and developing for new platforms.

We do think, however, that applying to work in a startup is a great career move and we recommend you use SnapTalent http://www.snaptalent.com to find another internship at a startup.

We realize this process is fraught with error. It's practically certain that someone we rejected might be a great fit in the future, so let us know when you've developed your skills further or start your own startup."
