Here’s a quick story I remember:

A man was sent on a business trip in New York while his pregnant wife was giving birth to their son in Colorado. The father of the child, awake at 2am on his cell phone, was trying to simulate being present with his wife by calling and being on the line. Realizing he had conference calling, he put his wife on hold, called his mother-in-law in India, and conferenced the three of phones together. Within a short period of time, all three were able to hear the cries of a healthy baby boy for the first time in that little boy’s life. This, ladies and gentleman, is the power of mobile technology. But, what if a cell phone could do more?

I am a recent college graduate working for a small dot-com company in hopes of gaining valuable experience to one-day open up my own company. I used to work for T-Mobile as a retail sales rep, but have parted ways to expand my perspective beyond sales. Cell phones and mode of access is very interesting to me; one day I hope to take this passion and turn it into my own thriving business.

The reason why I should go is because $600 is more money than me going out to eat in 3 months (but not 4). That aside, I believe I can contribute value to the conference, as well as represent TechCrunch in a manner fitting of a CEO, even if I am just a college graduate. After all, if the shoe fits…

As a finance major working in IT, my belief is that the next 5 years will be dominated by web-enabled browsers and apps accessible on cell phones. For me personally, this is history in the making all over again. I definitely believe that mobile web apps are the wave of the next 5 years, much like Google and Yahoo were the waves of the late 90s. Me, I don’t want to just live the future, I want to build it.

I should be there b/c I am leading the new web 2.0 IT Pro. startup Informed Networker (www.informednetworker.com). Not only will I be interested in the content as a consumer but I’ll also be interested in posting and promoting the content and building business relationships as a web 2.0 business that will be reaching out to the exact customers mobilize companies want to attract – techies, early adopters, etc.
I can’t afford it right now b/c I am dedicated to IN full-time, and money is being focused on development, content, and marketing – rather than conference hopping…as much as I’d love to stop by a few.

Starting a business accelerator (similar to that of TechStars & Y-Combinator). Our program will focus on mobile apps and be two months long. We hope to select up to ten teams for our first year (2009). We need to attend conferences like Mobilize to network in the mobile community, meet mobile investors, and meet mobile developers. So, in essence, by helping me you are actually helping ten future companies per year. Oh…and the name of the program – Awesome Inc. Who wouldn’t want to help out something so awesome.

Michael: We spoke when we put out Fon-1-1 alpha. I’m still operating on bootstrapping mode, so $$ is still very limited. So, I will probably cannot attend mobilize without a free ticket.

I would definitely support Om and you with a sponsor or DemoPit in the future. So you know, we made a lot of progress. Fon-1-1 has been revamped with versions for iPhone SDK and non-touch version of Nokia etc. We have a new product Taptin and working with another group of people to create RadarAD to monetize our apps.

After reading the other responses, I realized that there are a lot of people out there that are just like me. Entreprenuers that are cash strapped. This makes me feel better about my situation.

I’m taking a stab at winning this ticket to see if I can end my string of bad fortune. I recently got divorced, lost my life savings on a startup, (resulting in divorce), and had to take a day job at a software firm that seems to have no idea how to succeed.

I’ll be okay but I was hoping to launch some new mobile ideas in the near future and could benefit from attending this event. Help me out techcrunch!

- because i am interested in using mobile devices the entry point for a do-it-yourself medical system.
- i.e. look-up genes using the iphone
- connect blood-sugar testing device to the iphone, iphone analyses the numbers, uploads it to the cloud.
- device measures some cardiac variables. if anything goes wrong, phones to the nearest doctor.

some of these exist, but cost big bucks to get. with a ecosystem (and in this case use of the word is warranted) of eyes and ears i.e. measuring devices, connected to a a mobile system, is a way to break up the ’silo’ in this category.

pick me so i can learn more about mobile. i am a PhD student and hence wouldn’t drop 600 to attend otherwise.
