I expect the G1 to initially appeal to:
* people considering or owning Sidekick
* T-Mobile subscribers wanting iPhone
* users of Google services, such as Gmail
* texters looking for a real keyboard

Inside news:

I have been using the G1 all day today. It is a great phone! Already a bunch of cool apps such as a Barcode scanner and a ricther scale program! Has a great screen plus a 3MP camera! This is honestly a pretty cool phone! Has a trackball too which is cool since I now use a BlackBerry it is nice to have a similiar feature.

Really? an open platform system which will flourish with applications because no gross restrictions placed on the phone like Apple, will do fairly well.

Developers love google and programming on a linux platform such an android is much better than using an inferior darwin kernel .

T-Mobile is still the second largest GSM network in the United States of America, following AT&T/Cingular.

Yeah! The new G1 seems to be so good mainly because it’ll be so much easier to use Google services and it’s always good to have competition – even for an iPhone.

Must be nice to change this boring iPhone to something else better. Not only that, I didn’t expect it to crash since it is an Apple product and design, but lo and behold mine crashes like crazy. I will definitely be buying the new G1 cell phone. See yah!

I really, really look forward to the Android G1 because I want a real QWERT keyboard that my fingers can feel. iPhone’s make believe keyboard is something that has not reached my comfort zone. Yep, I’m ready for the G1! Wish I could get a hold of them today. I’ll buy 4 right away… one for each of my family. See me enjoy my new Android phone! Yleen

OMG I thought Erick was bad. John, are you also on GOOG’s payroll? Jes man, how much did they pay you the write this BS?
This phone looks like a bad dream of 2002 Windows Mobile with the functionality of a v0.1 iPhone. Except for geeks who use tweeter, who would conceiveably want to buy such a cr@p device?

The G-phone is simpy the GeekPhone. Wake up.

For whatever reason I’ve never lived in an area where T-mobile had good service, so I won’t be looking too much into their new products. Hopefully someday they will come to me. For now, it’s an iPhone.
