To say, “it’s still up in the air whether anyone actually cares about android,” makes no sense. Even those who don’t want to see Android like the Pandora CEO understand it will have HUGE implications for the ENTIRE mobile market.

So if you don’t care now… you have some rethinking to do.

Looks like the screen’s touch sensitivity still needs work, and the phone may still be slow from debugging SW.

Jan, its not HTCs fault. They are using existing software (WinMo) with carrier specifications. There isn’t much they can do to improve. They made the Touchflo and Cube to help but they can only so much. I think that is why they are foaming at the mouth for Google to get it going with Android. They will finally have an OS to show off the full capabilities of their devices.

Android running on Sprint’s Touch is pretty darn fast, on par if not faster than the iPhone. It looks beautiful, runs fast and is shaping up to be nice. Now if we could get a stable version of Android to get some real development going, that would be awesome. Check out the installer for Touch at http://www.myhtcphone.com

It’s yet to be seen what happens with this project and if something intersting will come of it. It will be nice to see what advances will be made in this area.

HTC tends to make phones/PDAs with feature sets that look very good on paper. I am less impressed by basic things such as call handling, getting a contact QUICKLY, etc.

Still I like HTC’s efforts and I hope this rumor is true and that it will be a great device…
