that worm managed to attack my computer even though i didn’t click on any weird links, and i didn’t allow anything to install. all of a sudden this fake anti-virus software was telling me i had the trojan. it sucks, but i might have to delete my facebook account because i can’t afford to have a slow and infected computer.

Does anybody know if this affects Macs. I saw some disagreement in olders posts. I got this last night from a friend and thought it was a joke, so I (like a moron) clicked on the link. I downloaded the flasplayer add on, but DID NOT install it. Nothing happened, the video did not play. I deleted my cookies, deleted the downloaded file and dumped my cache. I also changed my Facebook password. There doesn’t seem to be an issue with my compuer, but I’m skeptical of the whole “Macs don’t get viruses” claim. Any help would be appreciated.

If you are so f-ing narrow minded to call someone stupid rather than ignorant then, you must be God. Not everyone has the time nor the inclination to sit around and geek out with their PC. I was on FB to socialize with old friends. Not to be looking out for sinister d-heads, probably much like you with nothing better to do when they run out of lotion.

Part of me agrees with andrew, and then I think of my poor old mom who is very computer dumb, but then I realize that even she knows when not to click a suspicious link. People just need to understand if you’re going to use a computer….then actually learn how to use it. At least learn what to avoid and how to protect yourself from stuff like this. It’s not really all that complicated. But then again neither is driving, and many people struggle with that on a daily basis.

Hahaha, yeah. I really can’t wait for mac users to get slammed with viruses. They’re so smug in thinking they’re immune and that they’re some how better than anyone who uses windows. But it will happen, hell it’s already happening. Smug mac users just piss me off. Linux is the way to go.

I have been having this pop up for a while now. I hadn’t renewed my McAfee virus protection and I just thought it had to do with that. I am one of those thousands of people who use the computer for work and/or entertainment. Every time I open my computer I have this rectangle in the lower right corner that pops up, but it goes away in less than a minute. It had a red stop sign and just that someone has been trying to change my defaults. I have used the (x) so many times. Now my computer is freaking out on me. My screen just goes funny. I didn’t realize that something like this would just pop up on my computer. YIKES! I always thought you had to open an email to get a virus, or click on a link to download it. wow!

Some of you techies are very naive. Some of the worst viruses out there do not require you to click any where. They operate through exploits in IE/Windows….I have been hit by 3 Trojans on Facebook without so much as clicking on anything. I was using Google Chrome and Mozilla but they are not behaving well with Facebook at times. I was hit again last night. Avast told me about it but was unable to stop the infection. I rooted out 12 trojans that were installed way tooo quick. I have eliminated all but one extremely annoying malware which nothing has been able to get rid of so far……It even inactivated my windows…what a pain…..
