Cathy- TechCrunch does not hire fewer interns during the school year. The big difference between working during the school year vs in the summer is that the interns usually work remotely–unless you attend at Stanford and are close enough to come to the office.

Although interning for TC may produce a lot of industry connections, that’s putting an aweful lot of eggs into the tech bubble basket. Rather than experiencing serious software engineering, these guys are shooting for short term fame and fortune.

To everyone who is ragging on the Stanford kid, go back in your holes. TC would be a fabulous place for any college student to get his/her feet wet touching lots of technology and making contacts.

What do they provide to you? A website design was proposed to TC for free and it was turned down. The TC network isn’t that heavily influenced by a complex backend.
