On behalf of Fabrik we want to point out how the company has considered all aspects of the product from the inside out to be considerate of the environment. This includes the low power hard drives (saves 40% in power consumption), Energy Star power adapter, the recyclable aluminum (acts as heat sink so there is no fan) and bamboo materials and its packaging eliminates all extra paper waste. Plus the manufacturing is gentle on the environment, too. Here is a link where Fabrik has posted all the green sustainability data points -- http://www.simpletech.com/content/eco-friendly-redrive). By the way, always be sure to back up your documents …………..

this is all BS. The only technology I've seen lately that is going to make a difference is Golden Shellback waterproof coatings which protects gear against water damage and keeps it out of landfills. Otherwise, crap like this, just keeps people buying more.

That was my concern as well. I'm talking to the company this week to confirm possibility of failure.

Capital B for Backup, little b for bamboo IMHO.

Ambient operating max temp + MTBF expressed as % risk of failure per year of operation. Pay a small premium to get a backup drive with 50C and 1.7%. If specs aren't published, don't buy it.

Any company selling backup drives without these specs needs to warn consumers re: higher potential failure.

This should have been on CrunchGear, not TC. What exactly does this have to do with what TC covers?!

This is very practical for archiving or backing up work and important applications.

It is great to see Techcruch start covering more tech items.

Please review more - all this business and finance is getting tedious
