OK namecheap. DO NOT mistake this for cheap-domainregistration. They really suck. I was gonna go with goDaddy until I read some of the posts here. I was shocked at what I saw I don't know why. Business today is not business. It is a study in how to screw people, that's all. Jesus come back.

Everyone bought all the good pieces of property in Manhattan and now they want to sell it for more money than they paid. Can you believe that? God, they should just let me have it for the amount they paid because I should have it and I want it and it really should be mine. Now! When is the government gonna fix this problem for me? I'm gonna sue them. This is bull$#@%!
Grow up.

<blockquote>You don’t offer value</blockquote>

Maybe they don't offer value to you and some people. But if they offer value to other people, then that's all there is to it.

And it's fine you don't like them, and they don't like you. You're both equal. :)

<blockquote>Is their really nothing the congress could do about it?</blockquote>

U.S. Congress making a law over a country-code extension they don't control, much more if one can't show how it can cause harm? Please, they've got better things to do using taxpayer money than that.

Good luck with WHY.ME! I saw it's at around 600 now, so hopefully you won't be outbid.

As for Jason who started this string, WATCH.ME, the subject of the thread, was RESERVED by the registry as premium name.
It's been reserved and on the list for months.

(you can see the list here http://www.domen.me/cms/site_f....._Names.pdf).

You never had a chance at registering it on the 17th.

As for other false registrations, this happens every open registration period with every registrar… everyone tries for the same names at the exact same time. I got some of mine kicked back- some because I was beaten to it, others because they were names people had landrush apps in on, and the registry didn't kick back a "sorry, that's not available as it is held for auction" (even though whois still shows "no results."

I was mad like you, until I checked and saw they were headed to auction, because people put in landrush apps.... as I should have.

As for LLL, there are still plenty available. I got some today. And check out ### too. Plenty left.

I understand your frustration, Jason, but do some research before you post please.

You can't bid because you didn't apply for the name during landrush. Those are auctions to be played out by the landrush applicants.

Have you even bothered to look at the whois on domain.me? MOBILE.ME, as well as WATCH.ME, the subject of this thread, are both RESERVED by the registry as premium names.

They have been reserved and on the list for months (you can see the list http://www.domen.me/cms/site_files/dotME_Reserved_and_Premium_Names.pdf). You never had a chance at registering them, as they are planned to be released as premium auctions months from now.

why.me domain name auction: Just to let everyone know, I am bidding on why.me domain name for an anniversary present for my girlfriend whom I love very much. It is the first line of the poem I have written her (referencing my adoration for her being with me).

Bottom line: I am willing to spend about $9,000 on the .me domain, maybe more. and if you would like to discuss it with me in private, please email aupusher@gmail.com.

And thank you to the author of this article for giving me this opportunity.

O forgot to mention, domainmonster charged the same for the landrush as the did for the open registration, which wasn't bad either. Plus they did pre-registration. So soon as the Open Reg opened they sent the entire list in!

GoDaddy throws off bad vibes anyway. I went with domainmonster.com and ended up with about 18 premium domains. The thing is my partner went with go daddy the first couple of minutes. Then luckily we had a back up registrar. all thanks to domainmonster!

So your grandparents should be punished as well for being able to buy a house or a car at a price that wasn't available to you?

Let's clear one thing up. These are speculators, not always squatters. Squatting is when they are sitting on a trademark that is being infringed upon.

But to throw the 'squatting' term at anyone that has a domain that's not currently developed is like getting mad at a guy that got a great deal on a vintage car but decides not to drive it.

Should someone take that car away from him?

It's whiny jealousy.

Lot's of speculators, including myself, actually have a plan to develop the domains they register. Occasionally parking them and putting them up for sale in the downtime between registration and development. But be clear about this. Many of these domains are on my list to build, and do get built. Sometimes for my clients, sometimes for our own portfolio. Sometimes, even for sale as whole websites...

But if someone comes along before they are developed and makes an offer that I feel might justify selling it rather than developing it, yes, I am open to doing just that.

To all the 'they should take those away from those squatters' crowd, stop sitting on the sidelines wishing you could learn to play and get in the game.
