You want an iPhone app? We’ll give you an iPhone app. Take a look at Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for the iPhone which uses the accelerometer for game play. It should be available in September but we have some cool video over at CrunchGear. Peter Ha writes:
As far as we know and to THQ Wireless’ knowledge we’re the first with any sort of footage for the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and here it is for all of you readers. It’s a very cool game and an ingenious way of using the touchscreen. The accelerometer is only used to switch gameplay from landscape to portrait at any time. It’s still a work in progress and won’t be released until September 16, but we didn’t notice any glitches. I can say without a doubt that this is going to be a hot, hot game for the iPhone/iPod platform.

How many ultimate iphone apps are we going to have? I’m tired of seeing a different post for each iphone app.
first all posts about twittr.. now all posts about iphone.. boring
Good grief, that video was boring.

gee
iTards.
I’m a huge fan of both iPhone and TechCrunch. But like guys before me said there is such a thing as TOO MUCH iPhone posts.
Ontopic: It looks like App Shop will bring some great apps now that Apple enabled developers to monetize their iPhone apps simply.
folks,
i downloaded 7.7 itunes but stayed away from getting 2.0 on my old iPhone.
now the sync with outlook 2003 wont work.
apple is vry conveniently blaming it on outlook but it has nothign do with outlook other than the fact that 7.7 broke something in outlooksyncclient.exe to have it throw exceptions
not much on apple forums and the geniuses at apple stores are not genius after all – figured that out after a 3 hour waste yesterday at the san jose store
I love this app. I love this phone. I have had a great time with this app fighting my friends.
I love techcrunch.
Thanks

Hey TC it is nice to see you covering topics like iphone (I own an iphone), I will be honest it has gotten me to visit your site more often. I would like to make a observation on the content that TC has been posting. TC has been become so ‘mainstream’. When was the last time you guys review a self funded startup? Just b/c a VC is willing to dump a million does not make it more worthy of reviewing then a self funded startup. Just keep that in mind, ok.
snapshots are screwing up my ability to click play because the object is linked. It keeps popping up over the area when I want to click.
Nearly a week after the release and i still can’t find an at&t or apple store that has any in stock.
Everyone that’s bitter about the iphone posts is just bitter because they dont have an iphone. I actually like the iphone posts (both about the apps and the actual phone). Good work TC
The comments look different! WTF?!?!
Epstein you idiot.
Wow.. this looks very cool. Would love to get my hands on one as soon as it is released. It’s true that featuring individual iPhone apps in a blog such as this could be boring for regular readers.
Dude I am really starting to like the IPhone. If only it would act as a modem I would be all over it.

cool iphone game! can it download free ? or price less than 99cents?
What I would like to see is all of this planned future awesome iphone apps actually come into existence. Because it’s pretty easy for these developers to patch together something to run for 30 seconds as a demo. It’s harder to actually deliver it in final form into consumers hands.
E.g. Kroll, Spore, the ‘BioShock’ port, the ‘Quake’ port, now this ‘Force Unleashed’.
It’s a whole lot of talk, and yet, although they’ve had over half a year (which is a ton of time to port / develop a cellphone based application) very little progress seems to be happeningg.
Granted, I know Spore will emerge at some point – EA is too big a company to let it fall through the cracks. But the question is: how crippled will it be?
In general: less talk, more actual development. Because all we have now is a bunch of puzzle games and some silly kid stuff. Which is a shame given the CLAIMED capabilities of this platform.
This game has pretty much spurred me to buy an iPhone. It’ll help me keep on runnin’ during these 10K’s I’ve signed up too. Why oh why oh why DarthWaster? Gah!
