Netflix is coming to the Xbox 360 this fall. Netflix subscribers will have instant access to over 10,000 movies and TV shows, streamed directly to the Xbox 360 console.
What’s more, with the new Live Party feature coming to the Xbox 360, you’ll be able to stream whatever Netflix content you’re watching to the rest of the people in your Live Party group — groups can contain up to eight people and everyone will be watching the movie or TV show at the same time, which oughta further alleviate the need to actually leave your house to interact with people face to face.
It’s unknown whether or not the other people in your Live Party have to be Netflix subscribers in order to view the streamed content. I’d think so, but it’d be nice if only one person in the group had to pony up for Netflix.

I don’t thing this service is a big success in other countries beside USA. It will be a real success in USA in my opinion and that’s all.

It would be even better if some type of feature is included (whether hardware or software based) that lets you stream the Netflix content to those other people over the web - Sling Media Player style. That way you could watch your Netflix with others who don’t necessarily have an xBox. This would of course be counter-productive since this move is of course to increase sales - but they could allow some type of “limited features” thing with the streaming option…
This seems like a really cool idea to me. It isn’t so much that people with no social skills will use it, but I have friends at many different colleges and Xbox Live is one way we can “hang out” in a sense.
Hopefully they include options for virtually bitchslapping who talks too much during a movie.
Leaving your house to interact with your XBox 360 friends is definitely overrated. Leaving your house for other reasons should definitely happen more.
This is cool, but I think Netflix’s streaming movie selection is pretty terrible. There are a few good TV Series sets that you can watch, but it’s still not that great overall.
Thats awesome… Its seems that I don’t need to Roku anymore. Xbox rocks!
You can read about Roku here:

FINALLY. I didn’t want to buy another box for this.
Netflix has a very specific strategy but i dont know if it will really work through the xbox, people dont need this service

another fantastic partnership for netflix, congrats…

@ #8:
“people dont need this service”
Are you kidding? Streaming tv will replace regular old programming within 20 years, and in high definition. Already with sites like hulu.com it’s possible to watch your favorite shows and not be tied to a schedule. As bandwidth / storage costs go down the proliferation of streaming media will take over.
We’ll look back and laugh at how primitive we were a few years from now.
I was all ready to buy the Netflix box, but now I’ll have to wait to check it out on my 360 first!
where is Sony/PS3 version?
It’s doesnt exist and it never will because they only team up with good consoles that sell.
We know what quality these videos will be in? SD, like the Roku box? HD?
NICE!!!!
Now my face wont be pressed against my monitor watching the netflix instant service, it will be the TV instead.
360 owners haven’t had to leave their houses since last fall when MS incorporated Divx codecs and made it possible to play pirated videos.
This all sounds great, but will we get it in Australia?
There is a Netflix app for Windows Media Center that allows you to watch Netflix’s steaming content in Media Center and browse it with your remote. Works great.
True that the content selection leaves much to be desired.

I think it’s time for Apple to kill the Apple TV, it’s not going any where, especially that they don’t open it for third-party Apps.
Apple is burying the Apple TV by their own hands.
@LiviuX, which country do you live in? I agree that if it is done as “netflix” it may not fly so well in say the UK, but over here we have LOVEFILM which is essentially the same as netflix. It is growing well, has a large userbase and I for one would totally dig being able to get the movies without posting DVDs etc. Also means I don’t need to pony up for a bluray if I want HD movies instead of standard DVD.
So I think it will fly and fly very well, but I do expect that all users will need to be subscribers or else Netflix would fall foul of a few laws regarding how the film content is being shown to people that did not pay etc. Having said that, perhaps by virtue of the fact everyone is ‘at home’ it is no different to inviting your mates over to watch your single copy of a movie.
Good times
It wont fly at all in the uk it wont even reach UK soil its US only.
Yes! What a good news to all Xbox 360 users out there! This will make my gaming moment more enjoyable. Go Netflix! Go Xbox 360!
