Is TechCrunch becoming IPhoneCrunch?

WAY too many (rather trivial and useless) pieces on the iPhone... And on Facebook widgets and Google, too!

I'd like to see the 'Apple screws up launch story' AB-ed against the 'RIM downtime' stories. They have a completely unacceptable amount of downtime for a business-critical service. And I'd like to see any other business (MS for example) pull off a global launch the size of yesterday's without having some problems.
The coverage is overdone and the 'journalism' is not too hot.
You guys can and should do better.

I doubt today will hurt their first place lead in satisfaction.

Launches rarely impact people, especially new customers because they're then enamored with what they got when it works.

@Martin_Australia

I feel your pain. I'm sure your rant will make the difference.

But please show me one tech-related website on the Internet that doesn't have several iPhone or Apple related articles in the last 48 hours. It is newsworthy, if not to you. If you are truly riled up please make the case that the entire Internet is going iPhone overboard... it is not just TechCrunch.

Also, see post #6 when comparing phones. For those few things that your phone does better, their is a longer list of things that it does not do at all.

C'MON ENOUGH ALREADY with articles on the bloody iPhone 2.0!!!

Are the writers at TechCrunch being paid by Apple because the obsessive amount of articles on here relative to Apple’s market share or even their forecast market share is ridiculous!!!!!

My HTC Diamond with HPDSA 3.5G is faster than the new iPhone has better WiFi and GPS, double the screen resolution and has other features which the iPhone doesn’t but what other mobiles have had for the past 14 months.

I can also buy 3rd party applications without being locked into an Apple online store and can buy it unlocked.

So, either give other phones the same coverage or CUT IT OUT ffs!

I had my iPhone for about 2 weeks and I decided to sell it because it doesn't do what I want it to do. The touchscreen has delay and trying to work with the phone with a slide moving is bad interface design. When I use my finger without the option for a keypad dirty my screen and I can't clean it. I had a scratch on the screen when my kid played with it. I didn't find the browser nor the photo features all that great. Taking pictures create poor low light resolution. Other people I talked to told me, they had a great experience and it's unlike my experience. I don't know about other people but to me, this phone doesn't deserve my money.

I was not happy that I had to lose about $100 to sell the device.

It appears that "market share" here refers to # of devices in use. Given the long history of HTC, RIM, and Palm it would be expected that these would have higher "market share" numbers when measured this way.

A more interesting statistic would be % of devices purchased last quarter. I believe this is the pie chart Apple displayed at the January Macworld with RIM at ~40% and Apple trailing in the #2 spot at ~30%. With the recent price drop, it should make the race much closer if not Apple taking over the top spot.

To summarize... I am a very satisfied customer.

And those numbers are very likely to change, and soon, based on how many of my co-workers laid out of work today to go stand in line to get the 3G. I'd be curious to see the numbers tomorrow, as they will be very different than the numbers of posted above.
