Wow...Did the Vista development team leave Microsoft to work for Apple? An unbelievable screwup on Apple's part. There is something called redundancy and a Plan B, which they apparently decided would cost too much money leaving millions of customers in the dirt.

Now .mac email has never been anything to brag about, but the last 3 days it's been non-existent. It took 5 minutes to log-in, another 3 minutes to load new emails and another 2 minutes to open an email. You can't delete email. It's a complete mess. I'm lucky that I don't depend on .mac for my important emails, but for those who do, I feel for you. Features are fantastic, but basic email in today's world is essential so that should have been the first priority and Apple has completely ignored that simple obvious fact.

They probably have a few hours before the stock price starts dropping like a rock.

Maybe Apple's desire to bathe in it's own glory is catching it out? It strikes me that trying to launch the iPhone worldwide AND launch a completely new MobileMe service at the same time is folly.

The service delivery manager at Apple should have insisted that MobileMe be launched a week ahead of the new iPhone and given a chance to settle in. That way when the hundreds of thousands of eager people who get their hands on their new 3G gadget and immediately try connecting to MobileMe alongside the millions trying to access it from their Macs and PCs at the same time, wouldn't be bitterly disappointed by finding the service lying in the dirt playing dead!

This is a FIASCO. I am amazed that there are so few articles in the blogosphere or the traditional news media about this big f*ckup. The service has been down for more than a day longer than was previously announced. Apple really flubbed this up.

BTW does anyone find it kinda odd that the iphone apps are under itunes (if you search hard enough!), but there's no obvious way to get to them (ie. no applications link).

I was kinda disappointed to see a lot of garbage in their. The worst is one guy who is just taking classics out of project guttenberg and selling them as standalone ebooks. That just seems plain wrong. There's also tones of guys doing lame copycat apps of some of the great free apps we had before.

Yes, I'm up late and kinda disappointed. I thought they we're going to have it up in time for the iphone launch so that iphone buyers would be able to sign up smoothly? It's now 6 am in New Zealand, and only a few hours to go till launch.

Hmmm, guess that's going to equal lost revenue for Apple, might need to put that AAPL stock purchase on hold :)

You can check on the status of the MobileMe rollout at the .Mac support page, as I wrote earlier. Looks like it's going to be a while, since the rollout apparently knocked all .Mac services offline. Now everything's back up except the new apps.

I toyed with me.com for about 10 minutes before I had to logoff to go to a meeting. This is the screenshot I took: http://snurl.com/mecom

Now the service is off for some reason.

The service was very slow, as .mac used to be.

MobileMe is really irritating me today... hasn't been working for hours!

I wouldn't have minded as much had they told me when it was going to happen beforehand, instead of a vague "early July."

"Words cannot describe my pain" ... So true...
