An unbelievable screwup on Apple's part. There is something called redundancy and a Plan B, which they apparently decided would cost too much money leaving millions of customers in the dirt. Now .mac email has never been anything to brag about, but the last 3 days it's been non-existent. It took 5 minutes to log-in, another 3 minutes to load new emails and another 2 minutes to open an email. You can't delete email. It's a complete mess. I'm lucky that I don't depend on .mac for my important emails, but for those who do, I feel for you. Features are fantastic, but basic email in today's world is essential so that should have been the first priority and Apple has completely ignored that simple obvious fact. It strikes me that trying to launch the iPhone worldwide AND launch a completely new MobileMe service at the same time is folly. The service delivery manager at Apple should have insisted that MobileMe be launched a week ahead of the new iPhone and given a chance to settle in. That way when the hundreds of thousands of eager people who get their hands on their new 3G gadget and immediately try connecting to MobileMe alongside the millions trying to access it from their Macs and PCs at the same time, wouldn't be bitterly disappointed by finding the service lying in the dirt playing dead!
