Apple finally let developers know when their iPhone apps will be live on the App Store for users to download and use: around 9 am PST Thursday morning. That, at least, is when the embargo lifts and press can start writing about the specific applications. Presumably the App Store will go live, along with iPhone 2.0 software in general, around that time.
We’ve created a directory of some of our favorite apps and will be posting on each of them then. We also have some TechCrunch-related news around an iPhone App as well. It’s not too late to submit your app for inclusion - details for submission are here.
And just as the news dies down on the new apps, get ready for the iPhone 3G, which goes on sale starting Friday morning at 8 am.

Snap! I regret selling my iPhone now. Everyone will be playing with the new apps for a full 24 hours before I get my hands a the 3g one.
Awesome!
Hoping to see:
a) voice recorder
b) To-Do app.
c) cut & paste
This date has been a LONG time coming. Can’t wait!
Michael, are you sure they’ve told developers about this? I’m in their iphone developer program, but haven’t received any communications about a launch date.
Verification?
Leaking memo?
ANYTHING PROVING ITS REAL?
Our app has been approved to go on sale, yet we have not received anything regarding the launch date. Though it will be really exciting if it is.
What about ipod touch
Btw how come you didn’t get the iphone 3g yet michael?
Cut & Paste will have to be developed by Apple. Do some people just not understand the logistics required?
@Don Wilson
You can Copy and Paste with Iphone 3g and Ipod Touch see this article

> Cut & Paste will have to be developed by Apple.
Fine with me.
> Do some people just not understand the logistics required?
Yup. Guilty as charged - I don’t know the logistics. However, it seems to me that if movie/music editing software has been able to use ‘Start’ and ‘End’ markers to isolate/copy sections for a long time (on systems much less powerful than OSX) , that an iPhone might be able to at least offer something simple that would do the job too.
I’m sure Apple could add cut & paste to the standard text views, with nothing required by devs. That is what Cocoa does on the Mac. You get basic cut & paste support without doing anything.
Will this app be available for Ipod touch as well. I will really like some pdf related app for my ipod touch.
Enigmo!
Meanwhile if you want to have a few bucks to spend on cool apps on Apple Store, there a contests for 300USD worth iTunes gift cards at http://lifesuxdaily.com/contest_july/
I was interested in iphone and now I am interested in 3g, however I can’t imagine life without cut and paste or to do list. I will stay with Treo for now and try to see how people do without those two things. It seems that those two things are ubiquitous on all devices and I am surprised that they are not included. Whoever develops cut and paste for the app store will be an instant billionaire!
