The reason why they dropped is because the quality of content on those sites has become abysmal lately. Every other story is an apple rumor, and the others are just content-less links with a summary. I don’t wish bad luck upon Ryan Block – in fact I hope he succeeds (i like free music) – but I’m not going to hold my breath considering his track record at engadget.

It will be interesting to see perfomance of Ryan outside of the big corporation that is providing warm corporate support, not existing in real blogs and startups.

Just for the record, to avoid any future confusions: I will be launching this year GadgetTracker.com that will not only be gadget news but also community site with social component and Open ID access, and certain services, running on Google App Engine etc.

The only thing to see is whether it will be “content startup” (i.e. based on wordpress and existing softwares) or whether they will create some original software to power it…

It is very surprising that after years at being number one and two on Technorati, Engadget and Gizmodo fell several places and Techcrunch rose to number two which the political blog leaped to number one.

Possibly this is due to the controversial elections, but after the year is over, it will be grand to see Techcrunch finally at number one.

Are techies becoming blase’ about gadgets and more intrigued by Tech SAAS.

Would be interesting to hear other opions on this new wave
