Okay I am a tech ignoramus, but can this be used to update a Honda accord built in navigation system or does it require replacing the old unit for the Dash? My daughter has an 03 accord with nav. system that needs an upgrade and the dvd from Honda is outrageous.

Why could you not do such updates w/ a TomTom?
Have you tried the Tyre plugin for TomTom home http://www.janboersma.nl/gett ? It works quite well. The magic of Open source saving the day again.

I’ve been driving around LA with a friend who uses a Dash and I’ve found it to be much better than every other GPS I’ve used. (And I’ve been designing map & GPS products one and off for a half dozen years.)

There are still some bugs to work out but the quality and features more than makes up for it, and the software update ability removes much of the risk of buying a Version 1 hardware product.

I’m going to buy one this afternoon.

of course people still buy them because GPS have become a consumer good and people can’t stand just having to option to go from one place to another…
they need a lot more to revive their consumer desires…

One of the most compelling features of the Dash – Wi-Fi updates – is finally here. Dash users simply connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi and the Dash GPS unit will download and install the update automatically. Try doing that with your TomTom….

We just used a Garmin to navigate SF and the Valley. It was pretty cool to not have to fiddle with maps but the ability of using live traffic info and to customize our routs would have helped a lot
