The Yahoo resignation parade is getting so popular that Wired contributing editor Mat Honan created a Do-It-Yourself Resignation Letter, just fill in the blanks and hit submit (nice subject line on that email, by the way).
Today’s winner after yesterday’s record day of four executive departures is SVP Strategic Alliances Chris Bolte, who has definitely resigned, we’ve heard, although we don’t have any other details. Bolte reported to EVP Hilary Schneider, a buddy of President Sue Decker (which means her star is rising at Yahoo, expect her to be promoted).
My recommendation to any Yahoo Execs who haven’t submitted a resignation letter yet - hold off for a week or so, you might find yourself promoted simply because no one else is still around.

Again, I’ll gladly work at Yahoo Mr. Yang. I’ll even assign you my search patent for grammar. I have an impressive community college education and I know YUI.
Can I resign too?
We sure are in Silicon Valley. Very innovative idea.

Should present this startup at TC50. Very smart Matt Honan
Cheers, Nag
Somebody’s loss is others’ opportunity. I’m going to officially apply at Yahoo.
I hope the whole YUI team quits so I can take over YUI and get rid the fixed width stuff.
That’s innovative and freaking funny!
I am sure many more guys at Yahoo will be submitting this form over the weekend
Any volunteers at Yahoo! to code and host a this form in Yahoo’s intranet???
Happy Friday!
Now that is funny
I even wasted a minute of my life to create a web macro that fills in the form automatically. That should save the busy SVPs some time.
Maybe I should resign, then wait a week and THEN apply as CEO? Since at that point no-one will be left there, I might have a chance….. ? And I also don’t think it’ll be that hard to do a better job then my predecessor - even if I do it part time (My day time commitment is with Smibs Inc.). What do you think?
I wonder if that means that Bolte has to give back the company car? http://www.flickr.com/photos/thomashawk/44951271/
I just wrote about this They are all running away from there lives over at yahooooo
Cheers
Chris,
Yahoo seems right up your alley these days. Good luck, God bless, and we completely understand if you’re too busy to post here anymore.
-The TC Users
@Peter - I too planning to apply for the post of CEO next week, so now you have a competitor
However, if you commit to make me a SVP of Search, I am fine with it too..
@8
Aren’t you the CEO of zooomr.com?
Why couldn’t you use your own website for your pics?
LOLZ. That would be like Ballmer at Linux world, or the CEO of Burger King celebrating a birthday at McDonalds. Sorry, I had to, it was pure irony.

OTOH Isn’t a bit sad to contemplate the fall of our hopes ?
Anyone know whether any of the departures would be effective as a CEO, co-founder or advisor for a startup?
Aww, that really is sad..
One thing I always found funny about big businesses is that everyone is a vice president of some kind.
Chris Bolte left Yahoo! sometime late April or early May.
@Reliance Insider
Done deal! You are the new SVP search and if that doesn’t work out we’ll just sell the bits to Steve (Ballmer) and do a better job at Smibs (hint: see the Yahoo job as a trial period for your career at Smibs Inc.
TechCrunch has become YHOOcrunch? WTH. A few posts on YHOO’s misfortunes is acceptable, but now this is just boring, unfunny, and lame.
I would think that a MadLibs version would work quite well too although it would take a bit more effort and would require that you would be able to find at least one more person.
@Reliance Insider
Done deal. You’re the new SVP search. And if things don’t work out we can still sell the pieces to Steve (Ballmer) and then focus on doing a proper job at Smibs Inc. (hint: see your new job at Yahoo! as a trial period for your future career at Smibs.com) Anyone else looking for jobs to complete my
Yahoo! executive team? Please apply at http://twitter.com/peterurban
So Yahoo is falling apart… what a shame. I bet their VP’s will be hot commodity on the market though
This template takes the cake….. very funny!
A-harharharhar. Oh my, Arrington, you’re as funny as you are smart, unbiased, and honest.
For contrary view to Arrington’s usual anti-Y! jihad see:

It’s funny!!! Specially the last options in most of the drop down boxes.
I would love to work for MR. Yang(Yahoo).
Even Gary Vaynerchuk has resigned: http://garyvaynerchuk.com/2008.....-from-gary
They may be leaving but its still the #1 site. Very funny though.

@25, there are some YUI jobs there, but they still look pretty highfalutin and pretentious for a company going down in a flaming spiral or a company with entrepreneurial garage attitude.
That company face is warding me off.
These are the types of things that bring in good people

If I was going to have to act all corporate and stuff, I would expect at least that. Otherwise I would go back to working in a little cubicle similarly to Initech entering in crane part #s
This thing could be run with 3 smart people
Michael, you’re being a jerk.
It’s one thing to respectfully cover news, another thing to repeatedly and publically revel in schaudenfreude. You join bottom feeders like Valleywag when you delight in others’ misfortunes. You’re better than that, or at least I’d like to think so.
@29, if you put any site on the Alexa top 10 on autopilot, they would go down SO fast. It wouldn’t even take 2 weeks to sink them into obscurity.
Also, these sites live on salespeople to bring in large clients. They’re not automated like you may think.
Michael,
When you do anything that comes close to building a company like Yahoo, please let me know…untll then, back off.
I am going to make you eat your words
Jerry
Time to buy yahoo stock. With all these high ranking exec’s quitting, their operating will be wayyy down, lowers operating cost, boosting profits!
The form is funny, especially as one imagines the other field selections.
Question: Can anyone make a convincing argument that a rebuilt Yahoo! with a new crew may finally figure out how to compete, whereas the old management had no idea which way to go? I’d like a silver lining.
I’ve always liked this as a model for resignation letters.

It’s best to set this as your desktop wallpaper a few weeks beforehand.

@32, I doubt you are Jerry Yang, but

Mike’s word press install is worth $13,484,800 dollars.
That’s pretty good for a word press blog.
What is 54 million times $22 = Over a billion, so Michael’s $13M is round off error…and the amount of value that Yahoo has created over the years is orders of magnitude larger than TC will ever be

@ Arrington, I’m really getting tired of your negative and increasingly personal attacks against Yahoo!. What’s your problem here? Yes, the company has made some serious mistakes in the past but look, it still stands today as one of the most valuable internet brands reaching 3/4 of online population in US. Users still love and use stuff from Yahoo! every day.
Please - stop creating these unproductive and sensational stories (yawn)… Would appreciate if you have a little respect for the people who still care about and work at Yahoo!.
Go Mike Aringten. The peeples choise for the US senete.
Honestly, these EVPs are responsible for the situation Yahoo! is in, so if I were to become CEO of Yahoo today, I would clear them ALL out.
It’s missing the “tin-smithing” option.
Where does the letter athttp://yahoorezinr.com/ I create go if I hit submit?
Good riddance to fair-weather managers. Most of them were the yes-men that caused the problems for Yahoo!. Get out of the way, and let the real contributors, the thousands of other employees, fix the mistakes you made.
And TechCrunch, your Yahoo bashing is frankly pathetic.
I think it is tough to change Y! culture at this time and the only way is to expose weekness of senior management, so Mike is doing right things by talking about Yahoo!.
No wonder why I love blogs where people can share their feelings without any fear.
second best techcruch post ever…..next to yesterdays AP post….love it
Yahoo is the #1 site in the internet. period. and that will be so despite all your yellow journalism.
Arrington’s vendetta against Yahoo is pathetic. I’m wondering if he had money in Yahoo stock right before the merger attempt, or a big bet going. It’s one thing to report on actual events but the last couple months he has been pushing the “Yahoo is doomed” BS relentlessly.
And no I don’t work for yahoo, I rarely use their search for anything, I only use a couple of their sites periodically. The reason I’m posting this is I read this site because it was a tech news site, not a childish “Yahoo sucks” blog. I’m done with techcrunch.
It is easy to mistake Yahoo for the #1 site as they’ve been in that position for quite some time. over the last few years though, under the watch of many who remain in the executive suite, their lead has slipped.
Most recently, Google has moved into the #1 web property based on unique visitors according to comscore.
Pwned.
