Online broadcasting continues to make headway against the monolithic cable companies as more sports fans turn to the web for their fix. This year’s Wimbledon tournament will be streamed online by MediaZone at Wimbledon LIVE beginning June 23rd. An all access pass to the tournament costs $25, but you can grab one of 50 free passes by sending a request to mztcwimbledon@gmail.com.
This marks the third year that MediaZone has streamed Wimbledon, and the service has seen impressive growth, with a 129% increase in revenue year over year. This year’s pass will include access to 300 matches spread across eight courts in a two week span. And while the $25 price tag will put off many casual viewers, you can be sure that hardcore fans will love being able to switch between matches at will.
Given the increased amount of choice and control afforded by online sportscasts it seems that it’s only a matter of time that online viewing will finally go mainstream. Earlier this week IBM hosted a stream for the US Open, which was streamed over 2.5 million times, making it one of the biggest online sporting events ever.
Update:TechCrunch readers who didn’t get in on the free passes can save 20% by going here.

Nice to see reasonable pricing…
TQ very much for the free passes !
FUUYOO !!!
Totally. I’ll take one. Email it to me Mr. Kincaid I would love to visit Wimbledon on my internet machine.
This is the future of permission marketing!
uau, and the tennis goes on-line too.
This is a cool idea though I’d like to see these things fully ad supported, with subscription fees for no ads. NBC will be webcasting (not sure if live or not) every single event, a fantastic upgrade in coverage for … Table Tennis fans like me who rarely got to see their favorite events.
I tried to send an email to the address above but it said the email account doesnt exist?
This is a third great effort from MediaZone to be streamed Wimbledon & online this time. Cost of the pass looks reasonable, but I would like to hear from some one saying Hey! look I got the pass.

dude, if twitter gets me free wimbledon tickets that would be rad. Thx Mike
TQ very much for the free passes….
Can I have a free pass please?
Thank you very much!
Gimme a free pass too!
Tnx
I’m afraid that gmail bounced my email to them as well.
Is there a better email address to use?
My wife is a tennis fanatic and would love this pass.
well I will be really happy to get the free pass as i’m a huge tennis fan
Did you see the European Championships soccer 2008 live stream!? It is completely for free and you can find it at: http://ek2008.nos.nl
This is the only live stream around the EC soccer you will find on the internet and you can also watch it on your mobile phone with the mobile plugg-in.
Interesting – it’s a pay service but they also have Google ads on their website. I guess its like paying for cable or satellite and then still having to watch tons of commercials.
Fortunately you won’t find pay television on http://zipityzap.com . I’m a fan of ad-supported content.
Can I have the free pass please ?
Thank You.
I don’t have all the details yet, but I know IBM is also helping Wimbledon stream live video of the event just like at the US Open this past week.(I work for IBM and help on the sports stuff). I’ll find out more details, as I’m not yet sure on everything.
The site is http://www.Wimbledon\org
My email bounced too. Is there another address?
I’d love a pass, can’t wait for Wimbledon to start.
would love a pass if you still have one – thanks!
would love one too, please!
I sent an email pretty much straight after this was posted and didn’t receive a reply – scam?
WOW! This is great – Thanks for the free pass I am really excited for Wimbledon this year…

Argh! I didn’t make it! But I would pay for one.
The timing is great on this one. I just canceled my cable tv service and was wondering how I was going to watch Wimbledon.
Hi all,
You should all join the Wimbledon webjam. It’s an unofficial fan site where Wimbledon fans can share interests, watch videos, add photos, keep up to date on news, or create their own fan site!

I didn’t get one of those emails, but I did get an email offering me 20% off since I’m a “TechCrunch reader.”

I’d really like to have one of this passes, there’s no possibility for me to watch wimbledon on TV :/
I’m stuck here at work with no way to watch great tennis!!! Please can I have a pass!!
In Hong Kong, can’t find Wimbledon on TV, but would love to watch it online!
Can i have a free pass too? Thanks!
Wow!!! I just had the worst experience with MediaZone. I paid the $25 and their service would now work on any of my 3 computers. 2 XP and 1 Vista. I tried the online chat and their support guy was so frustrated he refunded my money and gave up. I don’t give a crap about $25, I would have paid $100. All I want to do is see Wimbledon from my office. After this experience, I’m gonna stick with TV and wait 10 years until the technology on the internet catches up with them. Extremely disappointed.
