I was not off the mark as to how much SproutCore sucks Shit! Look at how well it is performing in MobileMe right now.. Yes sure Charles Jolley can up with the most fucking retarded excuses, but hands down it is the shittiest framework I have seen!

Some of you guys just don't get it.

They aren't trying to compete with jQuery / Prototype / YUI / or Flash. Apple's move is to provide a seamless experience for which neither of the technologies are necessarily capable of producing in a fashion that suits Apple's strive for perfection and useable technology/UI. jQuery UI demo pieces aren't that spectacular either so settle down. Which brings me to implementation and execution.

I find some of the commentary rather humorous given the lifespan of the aforementioned javascript frameworks, and how poorly most of them have been implemented. Seriously, take a hard look before being overly vocal about premature coverage of a framework that's incomplete. And I mean seriously, before one writes off the .js size, consider the number of plugins necessary for jQuery to be usable in most cases for providing a true application-like experience. Don't kid yourself.

I&E is the most frequent point of failure, and Apple has a history of nailing it on a cross and becoming worshiped. At least they're banking on JavaScript and not some proprietary Silverlight bullshit. :)

Oh yes that's going to suck really bad time for mobileme if they are using that to power their new apps.
You can probably say bye bye to use any of the new 'web apps' on your iPhone too since that JS framework is so big and a memory hog!
I remember using the gallery stuff of .Mac on Windows XP and oh man that was so terrible even on a fast network...
If they really wanted something light they should have used moo.fx : http://moofx.mad4milk.net/

There is only so much that javascript in the browser can do, no matter what cool name and branding you give it. Ajax is awesome for other things. Here is a different take on online galleries: http://www.fotagraft.com

Isn't SproutCore the same crappy stuff used in .Mac? It sucked and was a huge ass script.. why is this touted as super cool? From a previous daring fireball comment "the Carousel feature is Flash, the rest is AJAX. And the gallery.js JavaScript file is 10,000 lines and weighs 408 KB. (Great for EDGE!)"

Wow, that's HORRIBLE slow.
I also didn't see very many features. Opacity? Uhm... what is the point?
Rotation? It's not even enabled!

I'm not just speaking out of my ass either on this. I created http://worldofsolitaire.com and I certainly realize what amazing things can be created with JavaScript.

If I were Apple, I'd try and keep the fact that this is what they based their new product on to a bare minimum.

I need to learn to read the article before I rush off to the sites...

I was ready to go sync some photos... lol... (i agree with #3. the resize slider was mad choppy... not a very smooth experience. The web browser is just ill prepared to offer the functionality of the desktop... nothing against the developers of sproutcore... great library... just that the web is not ready for stuff like this.)

The MobileMe could be a bit cheaper though - I'd be more than happy to ditch dozen of services I currently use for a one-stop-fully-functional service but paying 99USD per year for that still seems a bit steep (although I am aware that it probably gives the right value for the dollar). Still, it looks like a well done service, especially if everything works as seamlessly as on the demo.
