The best in all this is people bitching how you need to go to college to run scalable websites. Haha… Sounds like someone went to school and still didn’t get the job he thought he deserved? Aww.

It all comes down to the fact that 90% of the people bitching have never gotten within 10 ft of a website handling what Twitter does, or maybe just 10% of that. That’s pathetic.

It makes me sick that these god forsaken Twitter update-bashings continue to see the most comments. It’s really easy to say that Arrington is a clueless arcmchair spooge jockey, but then we come around and fill up his contentless posts with reams of the exact same comments over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Can he really be blamed for turning into Valleywag if it drives up traffic?

#9; You’re showing your own ignorance if you thing that tweaking MySQL caching or indexing is going to make any difference . Consider that some users are pushing messages to 30,000+ followers, and pulling messages from 30,000 of users. I’m sure the problem is a little more complex that what you imagine. I’m not trying to defend Twitter; their comment that they’re piling on Memcache after so much down time makes me wonder what they’ve been doing until now.

To learn Google AppEngine I wrote a half assed Twitter clone at http://talk.org which hopefully should hold up as it leaves out such unimportant twitter features such as Following and Tracking and is based on Google AppEngine.

If Twitter does go down which I hope t doesn’t, please feel free to try and break Talk.org, to see if it can hold up.

I think Mike has a very unhealthy obsession with Twitter uptime. I don’t actually understand where all the anger towards them has come from? You are on the verge of needing to take a break from blogging if you ask me, because your ruining your reputation, and that’s not just my opinion, scroll up and read comments by you loyal readers.

Of course, you don’t care because you have around 900k readers, but do you honestly think they all love your obsession? No they dont, as I said, scroll up.

What makes it worse is you have no idea about architecture nor being a sysadmin, so all your posts are based on what you think is happening “in the twitter cloud” and because “Ruby on Rails is slow”. Pretty sad your trying to ruin a site because it got too popular, too quickly. Anyone would be in the same situation.

Is anyone else getting VERY annoyed with Techcrunch?
Ssometimes it feels like my GF whining.

Lets just clear this up: First TC complains that there is not enough communication, then when they do communicate TC complains there is TOO Much communication. And now when they try to fix it TC says PLEASE DONT TELL US.

I would hate to be in Twitters position, they can do nothing right according to TC/Michael.

Its like a winning little kid/GF/Wife you can never please. Nothing You can do is good enough. So is news really that slow in the Startup World?

Twitter bashing again? What about some community support, tolerance and some encourgement. Yes, they should have got it sorted out by now, but does that not give a clue to the fact that it’s not as easy as chucking a few more servers at it?

This is just bad at all ends. I’m having a difficult time comprehending what this blog post accomplishes, and clearly the risk involved in making this… horrible management decision.

It feels like everyone starting to route against Twitters architecture, after a ‘promise’ like this… I guess I kind of am too. The post only makes things a nightmare if the site goes down.

Also, it gives a reason for all its already PO’ed nerdy users to DOS it tomorrow.
