I have been able to avoid those scams on Intelius, but the one scam I have not been able to avoid with Intelius is how they changed their site.

In the earlier days, Intelius used to list the date that the information they were showing was last updated. This would let me know how fresh the data was, so when looking for someone, I could tell if I had already read the information provided and also be able to tell if the address listed was probably still good.

Intelius stopped providing that information a few years ago forcing me to buy reports I had already seen because I had no way to tell if the new report had been updated without comparing it to a previous report I had already purchased.

I complained about it but Intelius customer service just responded that that was the way it is and they were not going to change it.

The result is I no longer use Intelius to locate people except to get the free listing which gives me a general idea of what states they might be in.

Bottom line, Intelius lost revenue by withholding relevant information from their searches and I still get the information I need using Intelius for free to point me in the right direction for hands on research.

I know all about both these companies. It is a brutal scam, nothing more. They just try to "sucker" as many people as possible.

It's really a shame someone does not shut these guys down completely.

How can we bring these dangerous "information services" down? Any jerk can get your address and phone number without any effort and then harm you and your family. You used to have to go to the county recorders office to get public records. That's the way it should be.

Why isn't the country up in arms over the idea that a company has the right to give or sell public information over the internet. There are HUGE safety concerns here. Criminals can use the information to harm people so easily! It used to be that you had to go to a county recorders office and personally ask for someone's address and phone number. Now intelius just gives it away so that any jerk can get it with no effort- shameful and extremely dangerous. How can we bring this kind of thing to a halt?!!

A half-hour ago, I just ordered a Name look up for a long lost fam. member. For only 8.95, i was gonna get The name , address, phone number blah blah blah, and all i got was just, yes, a name look up search. Simple as that. The same crap I would've find at white pages.com. I searched the company and got to this website. I regret not doing any research before i ordered the product. Is there anyway for them not to charge me anymore? Will changing my Debit card number help? Please, anyone with answers to these questions will be greatly appreciated. I don't want this SOB getting anything...

I tried to find a phone number of someone I met on a cruise. I knew the name and city but not the phone number. I typed the name and city in Google and I was directed to the Intelius site. It said that for .95 I could get the info. I put in my Visa card info for the .95 and got the phone number info. Next thing I know I get a bill from visa with the .95 charge plust a charge called INT IDPROTECT MNTR SVC 877-974-1563 WA. Charge was for $19.95. When I called Visa to find out what this charge was for they told me that it was for a service I signed up for on line. I told them I never did that. Then they told me to
contact Intelius and cancel my account. To contact visa if I had a problem. I finally got through to Intelius, after a 30 min hold, and they did cancel my account. But would not refund the $19.95. They said that it was very plain on their web site. BS!! This is clearly a SCAM. I will join any class action suit that is available.
PS: Visa did remove the charge from my bill- at least for now.

Are you aware of any class action law suits I can join? I was scammed out of $60.00, but would happily pay $100 to see this SOB go to jail.

Ladies and gentlemen,
What you are witnessing is a Bernie Madoff in the making. Everyone is talking about suing. But who has sued? The feds might shut him down. But he probably won't do any time. So he goes back to the drawing board and figures out how to cheat people out of millions instead of $20 and $50 at a time.
in the Bronx and Brooklyn where i grew up if someone takes a dime from you you deal with it harshly for two reasons. #1-you let them know that if they take anything from you there will be consequences. And #2- you let everyone else know the no one is going to waltz in and take your hard earned anything without a fight. Most blue collar, white collar and no collar crooks prey on people who won't fight back. So what's the point? Some one like Naveen Jain will only change when he is laying in a hospital bed fighting for his life from the beating he received from that hard working guy who's last straw came in the mail with money charged to his account by a low life jackass whose misssion in life is to get rich off the backs of hard working honest people. You want to stop him boycott his
backers. I closed my account with the credit card company where his site suddenly popped up after i attempted to exit the credit card site.

Thanks Mike,

I was scammed by this scum as well. I purchased a background check and was automatically signed up for the ID Protect Subscription. I called my CC company and requested the charges be reversed and filed a complaint with MC. Hopefully MC will drop both Intelius and Adaptive Marketing.

This is BS, theft plain and simple, Naveen Jain and his cronies should be sharing a cell with Bernie Madolf.
